Naw Mumbles (as he is called in Boston ) is a complete moron to be sure, but he did get the comments on Detroit correct.

By any objective assessment of the overall condition of the city of Detroit and its population you would conclude the city should be paved over or turned into a large cattle farm.

This lethal combination of an out of control city population willing to loot, burn, kill for any reason real or imaginary, an existing city government with built in and generally accepted atmosphere of greed & corruption, add in excessive numbers of greedy unions always demanding stuff threatening strikes , the lack of jobs, the business unfriendly , business stifling environment atmosphere created in and long accepted in Detroit You have to conclude there is no hope for this combination of ingredients ever becoming a viable entity.

Old mumbles may be a fool but he got Detroit right on.

He will be exiting stage left soon because of poor health and he is always putting his foot in his mouth disease.

Which is why they call him mumbles in Boston!
He talks like he has a mouth full of marbles and he thinks that way too, always mispronouncing words killing sentences and thoughts with incoherent babbling.

There is still life in detroit. People avoided detroit decades ago because of reputation. I dont like big crowds or congestion but detroit has a place in its own rite. I swore into service there. Took physical there. Auto show is there. Every city has bad areas.even chicago. But to keep saying to destroy Detroit is narrowminded and thoughtless. True, never was glamorous. But it Will come back .i did banquets there at times. I just hate looking for parking but it is true in every city.many corporations are, ford field etc.hospitals.don't write it off yet. It has a place in this country.sure, it might be the butt of jokes. Cleveland used to be. But every city has corruption and bad reputations than louis is murder city now.should it be paved over?

And when u do light research, many working class came to detroit and metro when good paying jobs were plentiful. Detroit has become a city that is less of bedroom community and before a job city. Many logistics of auto industry have changed dramatically. What got much attention to detroit was the political corruption that is not only present in Detroit but counties and metro alike. The honeymoon in detroit and many cities in michigan and other states is over. Look at pittsburgh.hardly any steelmills. But government appointees in many cities and county/ state have not adusted to the plight of michigan. A good example is wayne county.many appointees r paid over twice what other parts of usa would bepaid for same job. Also nmany r showful wanting to. Take credit for their positions when they have done little to justify their inflated salaried pensions etc. There is less money to be distributed. they want to raise taxes.cities.counties.state when in fact they have shown little expertise on efficiency of spending money. We all have energy efficient appliances. Tv's, etc.because electric rates r not going down. Basically detroit is a city that has fallen on hard times because of corruption, tax base shrinkage, jobs being eliminated or going elsewhere. All we can do is vote people in who will make a positive impact for money they receive and r faithful stewards without the conflicts of interest. In government jobs u r supposed to live comfortable but not get rich at tax payers expense. If u have seen fbi investigations just in last five years it is mindboggling.detroit needs to adjust to the times. They r doing it slowly in many ways but hopefully they don't make innocent people pay for blunders as in wayne county, airport. Etc.

Give it up already.

You lost the battle for Detroit back in the 70's when you allowed the lawless out of control negros burn, loot and destroy the city.

That was the beginning of the end of the city.

Middle income honest hard working citizens lost confidence in the cities ability to control the morons.
As a result they left the city for Safer environments where they could live life free of the threat of out of control black morons.

Then over taxation over regulation of business by city county and state governments along with aggressive bully tactics by greedy unions drove honest business people out of the city.

There should have been a serious crack down on the morons in the hood.

Ya all forgot or never learned that axiom from business 101 which states

"What you tax you get less of and what you subsidize you get more of"

Now look around Detroit and see the results of ignoring the wisdom that axiom.

as for the lawless on the city you have laws you just need to get really serious about enforcing them.

Decision time, are the hoods in the hood going to control the streets or is government and honest citizens going to be Charge?

Strange all this shooting , looting , crime crap doesn't happen in other ethnic or racial communities only in the black community??

There is a message there.

It might be cheaper to move people out of neighborhoods and bulldoze all the buildings. Give them FEMA aid you know from Obamas Stash!
