He deserved to be fired for terminal stupidity. How could an old white dude come to a mostly all black city employed by a black emergency manager make such an insensitive statement? People can think what they want, but they can't make public utterances of racism as a joke.

Where is the racism? He said SOMEONE in a hoodie, never mentioned race.

Unless you are over 75 or just not very well educated, you must realize that racism tales a different tone than in the 50's. The obvious reference to Travon and a black boy running around at night in the city was clearly intended. It was not funny. The perpetrator of the comment himself admitted that it was insensitive. You are one of the few that do not understand that fact.
