Detroit, which has about 700,000 residents, would be the largest city by population to have filed for Chapter 9. Given the slow pace of reform, it's becoming increasingly unlikely Detroit can remain solvent.

Politicians don't pay any particular price for the failure of Detroit. That's all in the past. They already made their money and perks while mismanaging the city. The worst you can say is that now some of them will be forced to move on. They suffer no penalty for bad performance. Rest assured the new order will bring its own breed of politicians.

throwing money at the unions who kill jobs for many others...

Those of us in the rest of Michigan...the ones that work, pay taxes and obey the law.....are sick of supporting the criminal apes of Detroit. They should be allowed to go bankrupt. They got themselves into this mess....Let them figure it out. Before Coelman, Detroit was a safe, prosperous and beautiful city. Now it is like something out of a horror movie...Planet of the Apes.

Stop the hand wringing Kowalski. Yes, I agree some pain could be inflicted with a bankruptcy and I'm all for that. Detroit will still need financial help from the state and fed. We will be stuck with supporting these people who refuse to learn, become civilized and prosper. Benny Napoleon is already campaigning. I believe he has the best chance of becoming mayor. He said today that Detroit needs to start with a zero base budget and only spend the money it has. Decide what you can do with the dollars available and the rest doesn't get done. Now if he stuck with that it would be great, but he would quickly lose support from those counting on the free bacon.

I totally see your point. If there had been more abortion soon enough then there wouldn't be as many free loaders.

Very true! There should also be required DEPO-PROVERA shots every three months for ALL welfare women BEFORE they get their money. Don't breed 'em if you can't feed 'em ! Better still, let them bankrupt and cut off ALL city services. Then the cockroaches whould have no choice but to leave like the vermin left New Orleans during and after Katrina when the ghettos got flooded or destroyed.
