Taxes, taxes, taxes! Sick of taxes! I remember seeing this sign in southwest michigan august 1990 in someones yard in the country.still sticks with me. No more taxes. Just far more efficiency with money at hand. Get some advice from mayor wilder in westland. Not ficano.

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Ronald Reagan

It's the stupid voters who vote for these taxes believing things will improve.

An income tax at the city level is the beginning of the end for that city. It is the most conclusive evidence that the city is unable to be responsible with the wallets of the taxpayers that support them.

I bet people would be glad to pay a city tax in Dearborn if Orville Hubbard could be resurrected.

Many cities, counties, never had a reasonable budget, the state should have been involved in financial priorities of these cities/counties even when financial times were good.this would have made sure public taxes r distributed fairly, without conflicts of interest that have lowered public trust of officials Tremendously. When i voted last year, there were many i really didn't want in office. But the choices r extremely limited.we need people in these offices that really care about citizens taxes instead of making sure their own personal finances r the priority. The airport/ county scandal 2 years ago was excellent example of how officials can put taxpayers on low priority in sensible spending " without" conflicts of interest. When money becomes depleted they want to blame current economic conditions instead of people who created financial disaster as in county jail blunder.

Christmas is the time when kids tell Santa what they want and adults pay for it.

Budget deficits are when adults tell government what they want and their kids pay for it.
