I still think this guy should take plea deal or take another strategy. Maybe plead temporary inanity or?

I understand that sentiment, but I doubt Ted has been offered a plea. It's a high profile case with much evidence to convict. Ted would have to plead on the nose to something that would provide the prosecutor with about the same sentence in years to the maximum manslaughter.
This way he has the long-shot chance at acquittal or wrongful discharge of a firearm. I think Teds says, "In for a penny, in for a pound." He wants to go down swinging.
Insanity is a really difficult bar to overcome. Extreme temporary fear on the other hand is something a jury might believe and render a lesser verdict. The judge will earn his keep on this one. A judge has to be keenly following each word and listening for objections. Then he has to over-rule or sustain immediately to keep the flow of questioning continuous. Questioning is this case will be replete with objections, qualifications and motions. It would be boring to most people.

Teddy needs to start working on his kegal exercises now.

The latest story from the defense is that Ted thought there were several people trying to break into his home. That would be helpful to his case if the jury believes it. If you stretch the facts you take the risk that the jury will not believe any part of your story. Same disbelief comes into play when a witness offers conflicting stories on the stand versus the police interview. This is one more reason NOT to talk to the police about anything other than current weather or sports. Some attorney will always find a disparity.
It's tempting to cooperate with police in the hope they will see your side of the situation. They never do. Anything you say will be used against you, even the truth. Do not participate in a deposition without situational immunity. Bring that deposition to the witness stand. Ted would be in a better position today had he followed this advice.
