Forum: Stop Ferguson from happening in Detroit
Could a slaying of an unarmed black teen by police happen in Detroit? That question, sparked by the death of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, loomed large over a forum held Friday at Fellowship Chapel on relations between minority communities and law enforcement agencies.

Never! Chief Craig is always in the media's spotlight. The Chief is always on the street speaking with his teams.
If anything, other cities around the country could learn a few things from Detroit about how law enforcement and the citizens can work together! Like Craig said, we are in this battle together...the citizens and police, fighting crime.

Well, we might not have the Ferguson response. But wherever you have police, you will have the excessive use of force and denial of civil rights. That's what police are all about. Remember the little Jones girl who was shot sitting on her living room couch so the police could look good in TV footage. Then there was the deaf man who was shot while holding a rake 15' away from officers. It goes on and on. Admittedly, it's getting tougher on officers now with video to prevent their covering up these violations and hiding "throw downs." I would say the people of Detroit have been very restrained in the face of things.
None of the above is meant to suggest that crime and criminal behavior are anything but rampant in Detroit.

These kids had there lives taken from them by pure evil!
The monster who killed them wasn't trying to do his job and accidentally killed an innocent person consequentially. He exited his truck with one thing in mind and that was to kill these two adult kids. 21 and 23 years old.
It is tragic that a deaf person had to die as a result of a terrible mistake. That's probably the worst part of being a cop.
Criminals are killing folks on a daily basis in Detroit and it is sensational, but when a person who is sworn to uphold the law is forced to kill, our media is willing to ruin his life in the name of
I pray this madness stops!

Like eric the red holder has said, police departments need to look like the community served. It's time to go back to simpler times. All races have their own ghetto, barrio, enclave etc. with all residents of their race, schools run by their race, police and courts by their race. Using AG holders analogy that is the only way. Sounds a bit regressive but it seems to be what at least the blacks and latins are pushing for. The only thing that would make it not work is the actual working tax base is NOT represented in large enough numbers in the black and latin areas ala 'detroit'. But, it is ponderable that going back to full and total segrigation is an option that could work. Lets face it, it's very close now. How many whites or hispanics go thru watts, how many blacks stroll rodeo drive ?
