Why couldn't there be donations given within wayne county of active and retired employees if wayne county employees and cities therein to finish jail.alot of these people have way above average pay compared.to others similar sized regions in usa.u might laugh at this, but drastic times r here folks. Alot of these employeees in wayne county be it city county etc. .it could be done.fraud criminal Investigation could still be ongoing. Something to consider.

Bill Gates could do it, but I can't see enough money coming from employee donations.

My objection to finishing the jail is that it was way overpriced to start with. I hate to reward incompetence. I'm sure Walbridge would gladly jump on a plan to continue.

Also, I think the county now realizes that this was never the place to put a jail on more valuable downtown property.

The investigation is in the hands of a one-person grand jury. A jury of one(1) sounds strange. They must not have much to go on or the evidence is well focused and compelling. Here's hoping Ficano failed to clean his prints off the weapon.

There r enough of current/ retirees in city/ county govt. To make a difference. I'm not talking about donating 10 or 20 dollars. Some of these people could give thousands. Yes it was overpriced.this is because of little to no accountability by ficano and company. But to scrap something that has been built already costing 100 million is criminal in of itself. When emergency manager comes in, pensions/ salaries will likely be reduced anyways

Kevin, there's common sense and then there are accounting principles. I hate to see usable buildings torn down just to rebuild something a little different. Sometimes all the net cash flows of a project can make demolition compelling. As I said, they never should have selected the downtown site to begin with. There may be an opportunity now to turn that site into a very positive cash flow of property taxes, employee payroll taxes and downtown business activity. Put the jail out on Mound and make the "folk" drive a bit to see their kin.
The criminal activity has already taken place. Close the barn door and hang(figuratively) the responsible parties.
