Many unions circumvent Michigan's right-to-work law
Michigan's right-to-work law, which took effect late last week, has done little so far to prevent unions across the state from locking in contracts that obligate employees to continue paying dues for the foreseeable future.

Maybe they got idea of 10 year contract from the Detroit institute of arts. Tri counties on hook now to subsidize dia millage for ten years!!

Michigan residents want collective bargaining, not fascism of the boss acting as a king. Who can now ever apply for a mortgage as rtw quarantees NO JOB SECURITY!!! Arrest the GOP in Michigan, and throw away the key!

The good ole days r gone in some instances. When uaw was trying to unionize hudsons years ago desparation has set in. There will be many who will stay union others opting out hopefully with no repercussions. Many high paying wage earners will most likely stay union.other lower ones will juggle idea of worth.

And when u think of uaw in past there was no 2 tier wages. Now there r veteran auto workers who makr $28 hour give or take working alongside ones who make $10 hour less give or take. The ones who make high end wages will most likely be happy paying union dues. The lower end is questionable. I belong to a different union. It has advantages.not as strong as uaw. But low hours now. Also to same profit sharing go to high waged earners as to lower earners? The logistics and common sense will prevail, i never agreed with right to work but we have to make best of it. In some ways though uaw protected some workers in decades past who should have been terminated! That is a fact jack! Our work force iscapable of competing with asia and europe if ideal conditions r met. When consumers go to buy products many look for quality. Usa has workforce and still can keep high paid wages. Usa used to be most productive workers. Let us show the world with unions or partial representation. It is up to us to make this new law have advantages.

so there is a pretty big construction company downriver that in the winter when times are slow they only allow certain people to collect unemployment benefits and they have to still report to work 40 hours. not only is it illegal its immoral. and thats only one company and one instance there are too many. and why does he get away with it because his guys are job scared and they have no one to stick up for them, by the way these guys are paid ten bucks an hour. and the company is doing repairs constantly. I am sure you see there black trucks everywhere. unions only goal is to provide a safe work enviornment and a liveable wage to provide for a family.
