Mussill's was definitely the ONLY place to get your converse tennis shoes, your skates. I remember wanting a pair of CCM Tacks soooooo bad. I knew my Mom could never afford them, somehow my Dad found out about it and he showed up at the house, "come on we have somewhere to go". Next thing I know, I was getting fitted by one of the Mussill's for my Tacks! Oh did I think I was one hell of a bad ass then! Remember those thin nylon blue windbreakers we all would wear to skate outdoors. Damn things didn't have any lining and you would bundle up with sweatshirts underneath so you wouldn't freeze. How about those long stocking hats??? Getting them stolen off your head while you were skating....then getting thrown over the boards...if they didn't follow you over the boards and wash your face in the snow banked up along the sides, you were lucky! 9:00 would come and you would hear...."All skaters 12 and under, off the ice". I remember one time I refused to leave and Mike Audia literally chased me down, picked me up (I was kicking and screaming) and carried me off the ice!!!! Good old Bernie Popp, Hot Dog, Mr. Nagy......I was back on the ice the next time and Mike was told to let me skate!!! hahahahaha! Sometimes if you were lucky, the fields at the Munie would have frozen spots big enough to skate on. Of course it was darker but you could still hear the music
Slim's was the place to get your Christmas tree!!! lol
So many good, good memories..........

Remember when ... you couldn't wait for the street lights to come on so that you could play hide and seek in the dark in the neighborhood with a gang of kids? And it was okay because most of our parents were sitting on the front porch watering the lawns. Nowadays kids don't play outside, they are inside playing video games.

O, ya. Those were the days! Nothing to worry. I love it when the power goes out and kids have to play outside. I've never seen so many bikes, rollerskates and whatnot in almost perfect condition in the middle of summer. Heck, our stuff was tore up by now it was used so much. lolol I wasn't allowed to watch tv in the summer, it was rare. except at night after everyone came in or early in the morning.

Friday nights it was Weyands fish, Sunday mornings sometimes we walked to church when it was nice.

Neighbors sitting on their porches, everyone visiting with each other, helping out in the gardens sometimes. Barbeques on 4th of July, then the neighbors would all walk to the corner to watch the fireworks or walk to the park.
