I like the idea of making sure the kids get to eat at school. However, throwing money on the Bridge Card during summer gives no assurance that the money will be used for food and not booze or cigarettes for the parent.

This is typical of Government-speak that Government licensed "news" media is disseminating. The writer would have us believe that "the Michigan Department of Education is partnering with Detroit Public Schools to provide" free food to children of the Africans. The fact is, though, it is the hard working - increasingly impoverished - taxpaying minority who are doing the providing.

Nope, partnering is the appropriate word. The three entities are involved. The fed grants the money to the state. The state has the job of doling it out. The DPS has the names and qualifications of the students. Let's hope it's done somewhat efficiently.

Nobody is proclaiming that the money is anything but taxpayer money. I favor less taxing and more individualism. However, since we are sending so much money to the fed, we should at least do what we can to qualify for our share instead of taking a pass and giving it away to Ohio or Indiana for example.

Yes. I agree. Since the Africans took over the Government they have been trying to convince the minority of Americans who pay taxes that the money the Government has been printing up is "free" money. Nothing could be farther from the truth. That "free" money must eventually be paid for in one manner or another. Whether that payment is made through direct taxation, or by the increase in the price of goods and services, payment must eventually be made. As much as we all wish it so, there is no "free lunch".
