This is a great deal to save a trip to Detroit. If it's just a parking ticket, you benefit and your locality gets half the fine.

However, if it's a traffic ticket involving points, fight every ticket in person or with an attorney. You stand a good chance the officer will not show up and you save the points and fine.

Or stay out of town in the first place and observe all laws.

I heard even if officer doesn't show they have ways now to still give the ticket points and collect fine

The officer has to be there for a conviction.

First off, always try to be s anonymous as possible. Don't raise a stink with the officer so he makes notes on his copy of the ticket to be sure and screw you. When you show up in court, try to keep the judge with respect. Most courts will routinely dismiss a case with no complaining officer. The client or an attorney can ask for this treatment. There are some cases where the judge will try to work the defendant. He might talk the person into saying what happened and admit guilt. Then you would be found guilty and have the points. Or the judge could decide to reschedule to another day. That would be n inconvenience, but the officer probably won't show then either. At that point the case would be dismissed.

You have to play the game or pay.

In Wayne county if you get a ticket fir anything you will be paying it. Maybe not the points but, plan on bringing at least 200 bucks with you. The new jail is over budget, the county is broke, the jail must be paid for. Guess how revenue will be gathered.

It's still mostly about the money. In Livonia, the officer is right there across the street so he will show up and you are going down unless you can sweet talk him before the case is called. They know this so the officer won't present himself until the case is called. If it's the Wayne County Sheriff, he likely won't show up at 16th in Livonia. They will schedule several cases for a given day and send a stooge to negotiate. The stooge can't testify, but they can ask for a rescheduling if you refuse their deal. The deal is to take a non-point impeding violation ticket. They get the money and you keep it off your record. Are you feeling lucky?

The proposed jail is not going to be finished. Existing construction will be torn down and a new hotel may be built there. This is the current status.
