Store clerk should of stayed behind the counter! Sometimes I think the sm stores and gas stations clerks are packing, waiting for an arguement, might be jumpy and to guick to pull a gun becuase they have the gun next to them or in thier reach!Just like some police are quick to pull a gun...for I was getting tags license plate updated a few yrs ago and in the afternoon a few buildings away from the bmv I got stopped by a police officer...and not thinking step out of vichecle and said " what did i do?" when the cop from a distance behind the open car door pulled out a stun gun or gun and told me to get back into car! So caution with store clerks, caution with police that have guns? I should of stayed in the car and the clerk at store should of stayed behind counter?

People routinely give up their rights on the street when police stop them. Always be calm and respectful. Remember everything that happens and try to observe names and numbers.

Remember at least these three statements and repeat them as needed.
1. Officer, am I being detained or am I free to go now?
2. Officer, I do not consent to any searches. If you are at home, step out on the porch to talk and close the door behind you. Do the same in your car if invited to step out-after using statement one above.
3. Officer I can't answer questions without representation. DO NOT TALK TO POLICE. Greetings are OK. Follow instructions but do not say anything.

Police are legally allowed to lie to you on the street to obtain information or persuade you to give up your rights. Anything you say, whether you are innocent or not, WILL be used against you if possible. Obey the law and avoid police interaction as much as possible.
