Woman Says Company Illegally Towed Vehicle

A woman who was towed Tuesday says the towing company violated a Fort Worth city ordinance when it took her vehicle, NBC 5 reported.

Myself and many other people have had problems with this "Excalibur Towing Company." My car had a flat tire, it was on a jack for a little more than 7 hours and it was towed because they said it had taken too long to get fixed! It was only one night, how can I buy a new tire when the tires shops are CLOSED!?!? A friends car was towed from the VISITOR Parking lot at my apartment complex by the same company, they say they took his car because they "thought it was a different car." They THOGUHT?? Excalibur Towing is a rip-off, scam artist tow shop.

How can a car be towed away...if it is parked in a spot that says "VISITOR PARKING"The apartment mamagers office should intervene in a matter as such,so that the car owner does not have to pay anything.

Wow another stupid person looking for easy money. Big surprise right? No, it is rediculus how people can do this without being punished. She could have made to company pay for the gas to get back to arlington to pick up the car. Ugh probably just another low life who has a little power. Those power trips are terrible.

my friend had her car towed in 5mins. she dropped me off at my aparments came inside to go to the lady's room. and when i walked her back to her car they had towed in 5 freakin minutes. she had her emergency lights on and everything. i think they are scam artists. I mean come % minutes give me a break. geez

Was she legally parked?
Most are vultures, but hey, if you are not parked legally, you deserve whatever happens...sorry.
In my complex, people park in handicapped parking regularly when they have no h/c tag or license plate. There are several handicapped people in my complex that actually depend on those spaces, yet they are not authorized to have the violators' cars towed. If it is during office hours they have to call the apt manager. Otherwise nothing can be done.

What all of you need to understand is there are signs posted on property's stating that if you don;t park as per the rules xyz tow company is contracted to tow your car away. the tow companys are working for the property owner and are doing what the land owner has ask them to do, the tow company has legal right to charge you for service rendered once they have contacted your car with there equipment and the law is on there side on this my wording may be off a bit but the point is the same. Your local city councils have approved this type of business and use it on city property also. Tow company's like your business are just trying to make a living also, best you can do is follow the law and yes people are human and make mistakes and some people (Business) cheat.

I too was a victim of Excalibur Towing this evening. They illegally tow your car, then their Thugs that work their yard threaten you when you try to get you car back.

They need to be put out of business!

I will be filing a CIVIL Suit. Maybe assault charge against their Yard Operator....

It happened AGAIN! Well, the last time Excalibur Towing Stole my car I did get it back about an hour later, for FREE. They knew that they had made a mistake that is why they brought it back no questions asked. This time they took my brothers truck out of the Visitors Parking area. My brother went to jail tonight for not letting the tow truck driver do his job..... The cops are as corrupt as the towing company. The law states that if the vehicle owner catches the tow truck driver trying to take the vehicle then the owner of the vehicle should get into the vehicle and call the police so he/she can get the vehicle back.
This is what my brother did and he went to jail for doing what the law says to do. How can we be expected to obey the law when law is lawless?? This may seem like just a minor towing incident but it is much, much more than that. The police are in charge and this country was not meant to be this way.

If they did something against the law, sue them. Are there time limits on how long a car can be parked in the visitor's spots? I lived in an apartment complex once and there was a 12 hour limit because other people had visitors coming too. You might want to check and see who called the tow truck. Maybe the apartment complex is getting something back from all of this.

Common misconception. Actually the lot attached to his business is part of his property that he ALLOWS the public to use when the patronize his establishment. When you leave your car on his lot to go elsewhere, he's well within his right to have you towed. And I would too.

Perhaps she should have used a parking space instead of leaving her flashers on while blocking the drive way.

I'd have had her towed as well. The apartment complext I used to live in had HUGE problems with people like your friend who felt they were special or that they were just going to "run in really quick." When your car blocks the driveway in an apartment complex, it causes an inconvenience to MANY people. Our former complex had HUGE issues with people parking in the fire lanes on both sides of one of the only 'exits' on our side of the complex. There were times I couldn't pull out of my space, times when I could barely get out of the complex...it was ridiculous. So I copied down the number for the towing company and gleefully watched as they came to clean house. Imagine if a fire broke out and the firetrucks couldn't get to it because of all the 'special' people blocking the lane?

You people are not special. Your flashers are not a magical device that allows you to block and inconvenience other people by parking illegally. Get a space and park like a normal person and you shouldn't have to worry about getting towed.

I've had them towed as well....or at least 'stickered.' The sticker says "if this car is here in X amount of time...it's going bye-bye." I followed up, too.

There are no time limits on the Visitors Parking spots. No one ever calls the Tow Company, a lot of the residents here have a problem with Excalibur. The truck drivers just hide in the back corner of the apts. and wait like vulturs.
If they can't find anyone doing anything wrong they make something up. When my brothers truck was being towed away, there were no chains on the tires and there were no lights on the roof of the Vehicle. These two things must be done when towing a vehicle. Again, my brother did what the LAW says to do and he went to jail for it. One of the officers said he doesn't know that law and it's not his job to investigate. I guess the police think the only duty they have is to arrest people.
