Sales tax referendum coming to River Forest
River Forest residents will get to vote for their wallets' weight this November, as the village board decided Monday night to put a 1 percent sales tax hike referendum on the ballot.

So, it would move the sales tax up to 9.5% like Oak Park's. I happen to like 7.75% in DuPage County. With Costco on 22nd St. and the Oakbrook Mall, along with other retailers, I can easily pay for the gas out there.
High sales taxes mean I just shop for convenience locally. A loaf of bread, a couple of bucks at the hardware store. But anything of real value, its adios! I'm headed for DuPage.
