Instead of an order of protection the court should have issued her a Smith and Wesson and conceal and carry training. There wouldn't be any trial to wait for if they had saving the taxpayer the cost of state trial, incarceration and execution. Put the execution power in the hands of the victim instead.

Real justice.

Um, how exactly is the case circumstantial? The guy had been stalking his wife, there was a protection order against him, he's been found to have been stalking her at the train station, she's found dead from hammer wounds two blocks from the train stop, and he is found nearby walking around with a hammer (I would assume it has her blood on it, or he had blood on himself). That is enough to convict him.

Therese was my aunt. And yes, they found her blood on him. The case is pretty much open and shut. We just hope that justice will work and he will get what he deserves.

Why do you hate the United States of America and have no respect for it's Constitution? Very sad. Please, learn to love our country and respect the Constitution!

"This case is just a circumstantial case that the state is going with to try to convict Mr. Pender," said Assistant Public Defender Michael Mayfield.
Duh, hammer in hand of stalker under a protection order while walking on railroad tracks and wife murdered by hammer. What a coinsidence! The guys obviously innocent.

I know it's the public defender's job and all, but I wonder if even he believes what he says.

Let's hope Pender rots in jail.

Assistant Public Defenders Michael Mayfield and Preston Jones, are you living in a fantasy created by your client or are you another of a breed of win at all costs, couldn't care less about truth and justice, self-serving attorneys? Do you really expect to be taken seriously in your private life as well as your professional life? Insuring your client is adequately represented in a fair trial doesn't have to include immature comments to the press.

Check out the map of DV homides across the US in last 30 days. Started by Cathy Church a retired career prosecutor who created a non-profit, Access Justice Now.

Why isn't Domestic Violence thought of and treated as torture? They both have a recognizable profile of imprisonment, detention, enforced isolation, extreme physical and mental abuse and may end in death. Women are raped, beaten, burned, deprived of sleep, food and human contact. It's purpose is to break us. What one learns in order to survive, can make living later unbearable, causing post-traumatic stress even suicide years later. Why is it the constant level of abuse of women acceptable and/or even ignored?

We need more innovative ways to stop the torture of women and children. We need effective legal guarantees of personal-security.

that might work except for the fact that my aunt wasn't that kind of person. She never harmed a fly. And if we just let whoever we wanted walk around with a gun, this world would be even more crazy than it already is. Oh, and I'm sorry that your precious tax dollars are going to find justice for a harmless soul like my aunts...inconsiderate.
