Full story: The Courier-Journal

I was insulted by Friday's hateful editorial about 'lazy teachers' and the preposterous idea that without the accountability of CATS testing that teachers will 'resume their shopworn methods and dated ...

What a shame how true this is! If it were not for cats testing my son would have failed every grade. He has A.D.D. The teachers are lazy! They do not want your child/student if they have to put in a extra minute on them. I taught my own child to read, the school failed to. He can not get through everyday classroom day. The problem is we dont have teachers who care, they are under educated under paid and over worked. God help them if they have one student in a classroom of 30 that needs a hand. Where will they find the time? Just think of the report card on a national level if we paid our teachers what we pay our C.E.O's bet we would get those unreached goals! For right now i guess they will continue to blame the parents whenever there is a problem.

Teachers have a handicap also.

They can only do so much with children whom many parents send to school see as a babysitting service, educator, counselor, parent, fight-instructor, psychiatrist, diet and weight counselor, addiction counselor, chaperones, etc.

They can only do so much.

Also, teachers are now required to spend much of their time with illegal immigrants who required special time for translation, conduct and behavior, culture awareness, etc.

Thank you to the tax payers for these services.

HOW SO VERY RIGHT YOU ARE .another thing i see more of these days is 'its always the teachers fault .it amazes me how parents today REFUSE to hold their kid resposible for anything they do wrong in school ,BECAUSE ITS THE SCHOOLS FAULT OR THE TEACHERS FAULT .it use to be if you did wrong in school and someone from school called your parents then their word was LAW .AND IT DIDNT MATTER what your explanation was if the school called then that was it END OF STORY 'face your punishment.......but noooooooooooooo not nowdays ,its MY CHILD WOULD NEVER DO THAT THE SCHOOL IS LYING .another disturbing thing is how kids today are not taught how to accept failure because their not allowed to fail theirfore when they get out into the real world they have no idea how to accept failure because they were not allowed to, i think that has a lot to do with the school shootings nowdays they dont know how to take bullying or deal with it....

I am glad to see someone who doesn't fall for this "excuse me of responsibility" going on today.

I agree, these children do not know what to expect. They remind me being in semi-coma sometimes when you talked to them, they only respond to the cell phone or computer.

I find it very sad.

Maybe it should be replaced with a Conservative rag, where Newt Gingrich or John Bohner can write some good strait talk articles. Geeeesh! I like the Journal. Every paper everywhere is going to slant one way or another. You just have to sort it all out.

I was at a restaurant in the buffet line when the man in front of me stops, answers his cell phone and carries on a conversation.

He looks at the scowl on my face, then states, "these phones don't care where they ring at."

He blamed it on the cell phone which he brought inside the restaurant, he did not bother to turn off, he rudely held up the line to answered the phone.

Ways:

One day I expect to see or read on the news something similiar to "road rage."

It will be cell phone rage.

Don't laugh.

I really wanted to take that man's cell phone and throw it on the floor and smash it.

I know many others have felt the same way.

New crime======Cell Phone Rage.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Aries

It's one of those days when you'd be wise to mind your Ps and Qs if you want to avoid putting both feet in it or feeling like a fool. The trouble is that you're finding it hard to think before you speak, and you're rushing into situations without thinking about the possible consequences. All you can do is to apologize and try your hardest not to let it happen again.
