What a shame. Both of my daughters were born in this unit and they took such great care of ALL us before, during, and after the birth of our girls. My then-wife and I were devastated when our insurance plan changed and we weren't able to have our son there. We had him at AGMC and the treatment there was substandard with cramped rooms and no personal attention. The nurses and doctors at Falls General were top-notched, and the community is less for this closure. They even wheeled in a fold out bed for a weary Dad to sleep on and be close to his new child. New Beginnings, you will be missed!

This is so sad. Falls General Labor and Delivery is so much better then any other hospital and Akron, and the nurses where amazing when i delivered there 3 years ago! I wouldn't have delivered anywhere else!

I am sad the Labor ward is closing. I delivered my son there. I had the most beautifull experience. Unlike some of the other Labor units, the facility was very neat and clean. The attention the nurses gave me in my son was phenomenal. I would not choose to have my baby anywhere else. May they can reopen the facility or another one like it in the near future.

I think some of the decrease in the numbers comes from health insurance dictating what doctors, and which hospitals they'll allow you to by covered under.

This hospital may provide great nursing service to expectant mothers but it's not a safe place to be in labor. I almost lost my son while in labor there.
They do not have an anesthesiologist in the building 24hrs a day. So if you should have a complication in the middle of the night, like I did, and need a emergency c-section they have to call the anesthesiologist in from home. Some emergencies can't wait 20mins. My OB stopped delivering at this hospital, even though their office is across the street, when a baby died because the c-section couldn't be done without anesthesia.
I, for one, am happy to hear that this hospital won't be delivering babies anymore.

It's sad that this service won't be done anymore. I guess if you can't deliver more than one baby a day, it's a financial drain.
The first area baby in 2008 was born there; too bad he doesn't get to see his first birthday, though.

Sorry to hear about the closing, I had both of my kids at the maternity ward. Never thought of any other place,I lived in another county for both of my babies, took very good care of me and my family. People don't know what they are missing. Such a loss.

I've heard of doctors having to remove strange things from people, but you're the first I've heard to put a wallet up there!!

The first paragraph states that the unit is 10 years old. The seventh paragraph states that it was renovated in 1992. 1992 was 16 years ago. Someone involved in this story must have attended a school system where they used Investigative Math.

Yep 'cause my son is 11 and I had him in the "new" ward in '97. And it was their 5 year anniversary and they gave away 5 car seats to the first five babies and mine was #5.

It is sad to see the smaller units close. The bigger hospitals don't give the personal care, they are just too darn busy to give a darn. I had both of my babies at Robinson Memorial and the nurses treated me like royalty, anticipating my every need. My sister had her kids at Cuyahoga Falls and she received the same great care!!To the nurses at Cuyahoga Falls, go to Robinson to work so that you can continue to give the same great care that you are used to giving!!!!!!!!

I worked in the Ob department at CFGH for many years. I was so sad to hear that it was closing. I had the joy and prividledge of seeing many new lives come into the world there. We were a family as well as a nursing staff.I just hope that new moms can find this same wonderful care and concern elsewhere.
I wiah all the wonderful nurses who worked there the best.2014
