New to town and my kids go to Woodlawn, they seem to be having problems makeing friends. They are both very shy, so I'm sure that's part of the issue;but still don't understand why they are having so much trouble. My question is "does anyone else have issues with this matter or does their children get bullied or Is their something wrong with my two, lol"

I am from Rison, not Woodlawn. But I would figure the problem lies with this being such a close community. Most people are kin or grew up together. They aren't really open to letting strangers in. Just give it some time.

Thanks ...I never imagined this issue being so damaging to a child's self-esteem..but it sure is, it's stressful.

Of course it is REALLY stressful, especially for the child!! Trying to make friends and fit in. It can in some cases be devastating, especially for girls. And age does not matter! Try being involved more at school functions and activities, or join a local church. If you haven't tried these already. Sometimes that is harder than it seems, if like myself, you work full time. Hope things turn around for you and your child!!!! Woodlawn is not a bad school overall. Another thing about church, Shepherd Hills Baptist Church is really nice and MOST of the people are really great. It has been several years since I last attended. If not your denomination, check around.:)

I moved to Woodlawn in the fourth grade and it was tough for me.... I never really liked it and swore my kids would never grow up there, my mom never understood, she signed me up for softball which helped some, I became really good which helped alot especially once I got into to high school and was so good.... Now my mom works in the cafeteria and understands very well why I didn't like Woodlawn. Good Luck and try to get the kids into a Wednesday night church and extra activities it does help!!

Is this a good school district or not? Where can I find current info on this school district?

Honestly, its one of the best in the area. I can't say the soical part is all to good, but thats just my opinion. If you can't get in at white hall, I would pick woodlawn next.
