Letter: City officials deserve apology

TO THE EDITOR:

Dear Mr. Davidson:

... Your letter to the editor in last week’s paper (“Mayor hasn’t adequately answered questions about Boca situation,” Dec. 31) demands a response, if not an apology from you.

First, I knew well that my decision to take a position in Prairie du Chien, with my family’s best interests at heart, would be interpreted by some as an effort on my part to capitalize on the Boca Grande project...

1. Why is a mayor taking a resident's opinions (based on the mayor's actual quotes) so personally and pubicly demanding apologies? The letter's author did and said nothing wrong.

2. What does Mayor Kramer mean by "would be interpreted by some as an effort on my part to capitalize on the Boca Grande project"? How would Mayor Kramer's leaving Ripon to be city administrator of Prairie du Chien capitalize on Boca Grande plans in Ripon?

Why don't you ask the person who wrote the comments?

Letter: City officials deserve apology

TO THE EDITOR:

Dear Mr. Davidson:

...Second, as for my comments, the fact is that you have never once contacted me or talked to me but yet seem to know the very meaning of my words and thoughts.

What I cannot accept, whether I am mayor or not, is your use of the word “castrati” to describe those who have supported me, my “choir” as you have called them...

For you to refer to my supporters as castrated is clearly repugnant and malicious. I will never ask for an apology from you, but, at the very least, I would hope that you have the decency to apologize to the Common Council and my friends who you have labeled with a disgusting term in a very sophomoric attempt at humor....— Mayor Aaron Kramer"

1. Why is Mayor Kramer suggesting a resident should privately contact him to clarify mayor's public comments? If the mayor said something unclearly and was quoted in the paper, the mayor should've publicly cleared any misunderstanding up. Does the mayor call each resident to clarify what each resident's public opinion really meant before Mayor Kramer publicly reprimands with finger pointing? Did Mayor Kramer call Mr. Davidson for clarification before such fingerpointing?

2. When someone uses the term "throwing the baby out with the bathwater", does Mayor Kramer cry child abuse? With "cut your nose off to spite your face", does Mayor Kramer think someone is going to mutilate another's person?

Does Mayor Kramer not understand metaphors? Did he use someone else's use of a metaphor to cry about repugnancy and malice that don't exist? Are the metaphors Mayor Kramer has used the only acceptable ones then?

Didn't the resident use the metaphor "choir of castrati" to describe his opinion that our city council does not think for itself? Why is Mayor Kramer whining about this metaphor used against his "supporters" and "friends" then?

Mayor Kramer needs to relax. "Choir of castrati" IS a metaphor and the guy's entitled to his opinion of the council's pattern of decision making. Nothing repugnant or malicious involved in expression this opinion of local government. Just because Mayor Kramer disagrees doesn't mean he should (as a mayor) express his opinion childishly fingerpointing to discredit another resident who expressed his opinion (that I happen to agree with).

Letter: City officials deserve apology

TO THE EDITOR:

...Deadline for you to run for council or mayor has passed. Rather than print disgusting and derogatory remarks, you could have chosen to run for those very positions of power and decision-making in order to make positive and meaningful changes. There is always 2012.— Mayor Aaron Kramer"

Is this Mayor Kramer's sophomoric attempt at discouraging a resident from expressing dissent? Calling a resident's opinions disgusting and derogatory? Does Mayor Kramer understand that private citizens are ALLOWED to express their opinions about local government? Is Mayor Kramer insinuating that a resident's voice has no merit unless that resident is on some sort of council or commission? Isn't this the same sort of ad hominem attack on this resident that this resident was claiming is frequently used to avoid residents' questions of local politics and government issues?

Residents' voices DO make powerful and meaningful changes by expressing their opinions so that the ones elected to represent the people finally get the message and are reminded who holds the power!

I think Mayor Kramer's made his thoughts and his behavior very clear over the years. His latest letter in Commonwealth cinched my low opinions of him. I won't be calling him anymore. He's leaving soon anyway.

"He's leaving soon anyway." - Then why even bother posting anything. And if you are so worried about the mayor and the city, why won't you sign your name to the posts.

What a laugh - It is OK for someone to refer to people as castrated because they are entitled to an opinion BUT when the mayor says someone's thought process is misfiring (after they make unsubstantiated claims that turf causes cancer and the plan commission makes decisions which threatens the safety of children) he cannot because he is an elected official?

Wow - that is the just the kind of logic that has most people in Ripon scratching their heads and wondering if Miss Perr and her followers ARE even worth the time of reading....

Yes, residents' voices matter. You are assuming that a majority of residents are against the same things you are against, whatever that may be. I do not understand why several people who are against almost everything are absolutely convinced that they represent the majority of Riponites and that "city hall" just doesn't listen anyway. Have you ever even considered the possibility that most people in Ripon disagree with you, Michele, and Jerry Davidson?

Tell us all, please, how you know that the council cant think for themselves? You must have some really good knowledge that either the council is wrong about some decisions, the mayor has coerced them somehow, or tricked them, or at the very least you have some solid knowledge that the council has repeatedly voted against the will of the majority of Riponites. I really want to know how you know this--show us that you know the will of the majority of the city.

If you are really on this website to attempt to make Ripon a better place and to enhance the quality of our government, then you would have absolutely no problem--indeed you'd be jumping at the chance to--share with all of us the knowledge you possess that our government is going against the majority's wishes and is doing things that are harmful to this city.

Lastly, what's the message that "they" will finally get? Tell me so that I can tell my alderman.

Any bets on what will happen first:
DanTheMan providing any facts to back his arguments like Tigers has OR
Michele providing some facts to back up her kick-back stories OR
Michele and her buddies showing up to bid the mayor farewell at the Council meeting tonight. I am sure he will have a few "nice" words to say about her if asked....

Vegas has 25-1 she won't show, 100-1 on the first two. Any takers?

Repeating the same lies and picking the same fight with the same people again and again and again. You just can't help yourself. You're addicted to your hatred. You've got to be one of the ugliest, most vindictive people I've ever encountered. Get help, buddy, and God help anyone who ignorantly chooses to have anything to do with your hate mongering politics.

Thank you MICHELE for another uplifting post - when it comes to being ugly, ignorant and vindictive, you are the champion in Ripon. We hope to see you at the meeting, sharing your visions of a bright future in Ripon.

No, just find it odd that since this is the mayor's last council meeting, Mrs. Perr could speak to all of the evil things he has done, in her mind, and the ways he has screwed up the city. I know, it is easier to post ANONYMOUS claims under 150 different names without actually standing up for what you believe in. Funny how that always seems to happen?

And, I would like to hear which lies I am repeating....

Unless "strong dislike of Mayor Kramer" is approved beforehand for inclusion on the agenda, the council/Mayor won't allow residents to speak. Mayor adopted these same guidelines from school district around Spring 2009.

Was someone hoping for the opportunity to abuse his power and pummel a resident speaking about dislike of Mayor Kramer during this particular council meeting?

Mayor Kramer's usual punching bag wasn't available at tonight's council meeting. He found another punching bag. One for the road, eh?
