What the hell was the ripley midget leaque football thinking when they decided to leave the KVYFL. These poor kids only have a chance at winning during thier midget leaque career cuz once they go into middle an high school the coaches there ruin these fantastic players. Now the midget league is going to MOVYFL. So sad Scott ranson needs out of there!!!!!!!!

It happens when you can win superbowls. Isn't the motto if you can't beatem, take your ball and leave ?

A meeting was held at the practice field amongst coaches and parents with Scott as the main speaker. It was voted on by a 99% majority to leave the KVYFL due to multiple reasons. From my understanding the vote was only to get a consensus of the parents opinions. The issue is supposed to be officially voted on at a later date.

Next year it is quite possible the league (KVYFL) will abolish the 12 year olds which would cripple the A team. Due to a school policy at Ripley Middle, those players are not eligible for middle school ball - so they would be idle for a year.

They (the league) may also more likely do away with the D team as well..

I think one of the main issues was that the KVYFL has really changed since it began. There is lots of drama that the Ripley parents do not wish to subject our children to. There have been fights at other teams events, weapons, threats, physical injury of players/cheerleaders/coaches.. And that only scratches the surface.

As for winning - I think our record this year speaks for itself.

And concerning Mr. Ranson - He has done an exceptional job. I haven't heard one single complaint since he took office a couple years back.

Mr ranson is a JOKE. KVYFL is NOT gonna abolish 12 year olds that came from a KVYFL board member himself. So that excuse is not true. And trouble with the league at games?? Well that's gonna happen anywhere. Unfortunately that's how some parents are now. If its gonna happen south of Ripley it will happen North to that's like running from a problem. Instead ripley parents should take a stand against the violence and issues at games and make the league fix this problem. You r leaving the kids o other schools in this harm. That's teaching your child it's ok to run away and leave others in harm!! Take a stand and make a difference teach your children to make things change an b safer. With background checks mandatory on coaches (Tornado) tha was the BIg issue this year. They hasd convicted felons as coaches. Make it mandatory that te home field provide officers at the games. Bag checks for weapons. There are ways to make things safer and running to another league is crazy!!! Ate you gonna allow ur A team child to play middle and high school football. Cuz they will b playing ball against the same children that will have the same parents then.
As far as a winning season. The ripley MIDGET league coaches are fantastic. It's when they leave and go to the middle an high school the kids coaching lacks BIG time. If the A team coaches would coach our middle an high school we may b a good team again!!! It's sad that the A team this year has stomped every team they played but when tey move on may never win a game again.

We can control what happens at our home games at Ripley. You cant when visiting other places. And we neveronce had issuses till this year. I'll be blunt about it - some of the other teams parents doing the stupid stuff. In 30 years I have not seen such ignorant, thuggish, ghetto behavior. We dont have to just shake our heads and accept it - we have choices.

You people are idiots. First of all, if you think it is such a good idea to stay in this KVYFL, then maybe you should have grown some testicles and spoke up in the meeting where Ranson gave EVERYONE a time to speak their mind. I personally do not think that when thugs and idiots are bringing weapons to youth football games that it would be a good time to stand up fight the league. The league is not fixing it, so why take the risk when there is a league just north that seems to be a bit more stable?
And to HaHa - the Ripley Midget league coaches are not fantastic, most all are out to make their kid look like a division I stud. My son plays for the middle school team and I have a relative that plays for Ripley A team, so I have watched both teams play this year. I can safely say that yes, the Ripley youth team is good when comparing them to the A teams, but they will be unable to compete with the middle schools that Ripley played this year. Plus they have not played ANY competition. Those A teams that they have played are horrible. Ripley's middle school team is better than that A team because of the size up front. The A team has a good QB, but he would not get a chance to get the ball to anyone because the size difference of the boys. There are boys that are as tall as adults on that middle school team and weigh a good bit over 200lbs, they would crush that line that the A team has. And as for saying that the high school and middle school coaches ruin the kids, that is a bunch of crap. For years the Ripley Midget league has not played ANY competition. So when they get to the middle and high schools, they actually play someone with talent and lose. Ripley midget league football is not as good as they think they are.

Isn't running what the whole KVYFL was created on? Wasn't this league created because they were running from CVYFL?

No they will not be good, all of the middle school size is going on to the high school. Some of those boys should have moved on up and played this year for the middle school. Instead, they stayed down there with the A team and just played a bunch of scrubs and jv squads, they will not get better by doing that, but you can't tell these midget league coaches anything. In their minds they are getting wins even though it is against scrubs and younger kids. I will agree that the middle and high school coaches are not perfect, but they are actually playing competition and skilled teams.

Ripley Midget Football was never running from Chemical Valley, they were never part of that league. Going to another league is a good idea. Having to deal with some of the BS from the parents of KVYFL is ridiculous. I wouldn't want my kid to be a part of a league where parents fist fight and bring handguns to games. KVYFL is a trashy league and Ripley is better than that. And FYI, all of the middle school team except for 4 boys will be going to high school next year. There is definitely some talent on A-Team, but they need to get some size. And honestly, it won't matter if the coaching stays the same.

You are so right. Thank you for saying that. My boy also played Middle School ball and I got sick of hearing people say that A-Team was better. A-team played no real teams this year. I watched most of their games. Just look at the Sissonville game. S-ville looked like a bunch of B or C teamers.

We NEVER had to deal with thuggish behavior like this till we went to KVYFL and it started almost immediately. I-77 league never had these issues.

We can't always protect our kids from the idiots of the world, but why not while we can. If it means that there isn't a chance for a state title in their future, so be it. Exposing our children to the criminal behavior of certain people should be our priority as GOOD PARENTS. Only a self centered parent would be more concerned with winning. If that's how the complaining parents feel, take your kids to Tornado to play.
