,,,,no I'm not a scab!! No I don't have family that are either! I'm a hard working person,no union job I work 40+ a week! Never scabbed! But if I could make some good money while their sitting on their ass yes I would! And if you don't like it that's your problem cause I sure can use the money to feed my family! And I'm not stupid just a hard working American trying to make it!

It is a real shame that so many people are unaware of the importance of unions. If you like having a weekend off, thank a union member. As West Virginians, you should all be aware of something called the Battle of Blair Mountain. A black time in US history, and perhaps one of the few times in which the US military turned its guns on the citizens it was supposed to protect. Unions exist for a reason, to give a degree of power to the worker in the face of hazardous working conditions, to give fair wages for hard labor, and it is a shame, and downright scary, that unions are being tossed out the window by people who have been brainwashed into thinking that they are somehow a detriment. I am thankful that I was raised to know how important unions can be, and I really think that scabs are some of the lowest, worst people on the planet.
Today the historical significance of unions is being whitewashed by politicians, mostly of the Republican ilk, although more and more Democrats are tossing them aside as well. It is sickening what has been going on in this country; look at the travesty in Wisconsin; workers losing their collective bargaining rights by the swipe of a rich man's pen. Maybe you think that they are not important to your life at the moment, but chances are, unless you inherited your wealth, you owe some degree of appreciation to the unions and their members who fought to provide a living wage for honest work.
Don't give up guys, keep fighting the good fight.
The original intention of the union concept was for what you said, worker safety and a fair wage. Unfortunately, todays "union" is a far cry from the early days. Todays union is money hungry, power-grabbing,strong arming bully who only wants your lunch money. As far as the Wisconsin issue, PUBLIC employees whose wage is from TAX DOLLARS, Franklin D. Roosevelt said: "The process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service," Roosevelt wrote in 1937 to the National Federation of Federal Employees. Yes, public workers may demand fair treatment, wrote Roosevelt. But, he wrote, "I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place" in the public sector. "A strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government."

Moving to Alabama. Good luck finding a job you idiots. The rest of the county will not hire a 5668 worker.
Sorry bud, but your cousin is a liar! You ppl are pi$$ed that you do not know what is going on. You make up lies and create rumors (some of which that make me LMAO). Typical union mentality...rather than appreciate the "salary pukes" for maintaining customer commitments, you say that? You don't deserve a job.

What a bunch of slobs. Really? Sign the damn contract if you dont like the scabs being there. Be happy you have a job to go to while there are thousands without. There are plenty that have to pay their way on a 80-20 (or worse) insurance plan too. The days of free insurance are over. Those "scabs" you think are the scum of the earth will only work until you all get off your moral high horses and realize that everything cant be ideal. Its a fair deal take it. The "scabs" are keeping that place running so you still have customers when you finally realize that's the best your going to get. Until then continue to throw rocks through peoples windshields and be a general nuisance because it just adds to anyone's claims that unions are for lazy & ignorant people. Unions were great years ago so the guy who made the claim about the history of unions is dead on correct. They served a purpose back in the day. However today they only support lazy people and handicap those who wish to be productive (there are only a few exceptions that i have ever come across but i will concede there are exceptions out there).

Can the people from 5668 comprehend that it is not the communities job to support you? This is a dispute between you and YOUR employer. Food drives for 5668, benefit for 5668, you made your bed lay in it. Posting the names of individuals for the purposes of harassment is one of the reasons the community no longer supports you. 5668 is well know for bullying and harassing anyone who does not tow the line. Fight your own battles leave us out of it.

I know Jeff McCoy very well. Probably better than anyone on this thread. He is a fine upstanding business owner in Jackson County and a great person. Yes, he has flaws, as does each and every one of us. He is in business to support his family. If a union member walks into one of his businesses, he will treat you with respect and serve you as he does any other customer. Do you expect him to turn customers away just because they are not union members? I sure hope not. You wouldn't either, no matter what side of this dispute you are on. His job of business owner is to serve the members of his community. He does that and does a good job of it.

So are your union brothers and sisters going to pay all of your bills? Or will the taxpayers ten be invited so we can foot the bill? Just look at the Unity website- sign up to NOT pay your child support, call everyone you've borrows money from and tell them that you just can't possibly pay, sign up for unemployment. What's next? Food stamps, welfare, and defaults on loans. Who pays TAXPAYERS. With or without your little invite.

Is the union paying for the unemployment you are all signing up for ? Is the union paying for the two round the clock state troopers? Is that union property you are sitting on and erecting your little.signs? No, all funded by us the taxpayer. What injustice did the company.com mit that forced you to the picket line. You have every right to strike and protest your job, however it should not cost the community money or space.
State troopers around the clock to keep 5668 members from committing criminal acts pretty much makes my point, or is it Kyle's "goon guards" throwing bricks and Jack rocks? "Goon guards" what genius came up with that? It is a private security force most malls in America have them and mall shoppers.for.the.most part.are.not as violent as 5668 members.
