We need to elect the person that wrote this little number for sheriff. This dude has the right idea.

Turn all the dealers in. I think it is terrible the drug problem in Jackson County. Who would have ever thought that a nice little town like ours would become so infested with drug dealers and users. Anymore I am almost ashamed to say that I am from Jackson County. We have decent up-standing citizens who work and live here, yet we are
letting the drugs take over.I say if you know a dealer or user turn them in. I don't no why Jackson County doesn't have a Drug Busters hotline, Where you could call in and report the abuse.

This thread started around 2 years ago and it is just getting worse. The "drug highway" runs right through here. The people that got busted for Rx pills are now out and taking heroin b/c it is cheaper. Go to Ripley anytime after 8:00 and you see deals taking place on 21 coming in from Sandyville at Francis Brothers parking lots and later at night you can catch then on 21 in Fairplain Shopping Center, especially when Fratello's has an after-hours music event. Until they hit bottom nothing works...proven fact!

i just read through it and im shocked at how clueless people were back then, and still are. first, opiates are something some people will never let go of. theyll either get pain pills, or when that costs too much move to heroine and die like a rockstar, and thats probably what they want. i dont do drugs, i used to but narcotics never really appealed to me (thank god) so i dodged that bullet. honestly it makes me wonder, if tylenol 3s were available over the counter like in the netherlands, would they skip the hard stuff? hard drugs arent really a problem over there now, and almost all of its legal. lets see what they did right and roll with that.

Well as far as the Messer Stables goes I guess the fact that they were BUSTED means they ARE into the drug scene. So maybe they have lots of kids around to recruit them to work for them..... Hmmmmmmm...... All the boys and girls involved are very young.... Barely of legal age!!! So I say Great job to Tony Boggs!!!!!!!! Now get him and his wife off the streets and in jail where they belong!!!!!! They came here from somewhere else and shook our town up so they could make money which the buy big flashy expensive stuff to show off....... Come on Sharon your boobs... Your truck.... Your clothes..... Your boots .... That wasn't bought with welfare and disability checks!!! Messsers got GREEDY and that got them caught. Great job Tony Boggs!!!!!!! Please keep it up!!!!! Take them all down!!!!

Well this is America and it's the best country in the world no doubt. But unfortunately the junkies have rights too. Just because we know a certain person is selling dope the police can't just kick in the door and arrest them. The police know who's slinging dope but like I said the are protected by their rights just as us. They have to be "caught" selling. It's not as easy as it may seem. But when the police of jackson county do catch people tom renolds lets them off easy. Heck 90% of the time he lets everyone off easy. Everybody knows it. Tom and the others arnt dumb, everyone he lets off is a future vote. The public sees who gets arrested in the paper but what you don't see very often is the sentence. We need a hard ass in office and I'm talking a complete asshole that doesn't care if it's his own mother and send her to the gallows for j walking. It may sound dumb but I've spent a fair amount of time in a small town in ohio about 3 hrs away. The judge there is like I mention he don't care if you throw a cigarette butt out your going to prison for littering. The town is very clean, no theft, no drugs. People know if you get caught there is no such thing as a slap on the wrist. You stop at walmart and you see cars with windows down and unlocked. If you are seen driving reckless the community is calling and reporting it. All we can do is help the officers, call the tip line or whatever and report what you see. And pray that they get punished for their crimes. Stand together jackson county so we can take our towns back from the drugs, sellers, users and criminals. Look at this year alone some idiot in ravenswood running through town with a gun, murder just across the river, drugs everywhere, thefts everyday. It just may be your grandchild one day found in the river or shot.

I mean no disrespect; however, you walk a fine line with that mentality and for America to remain the best country in the World we need to also have the best solutions!

I agree with some of what you say though and although it would be nice to see people punished for their crimes. We must remember the HOW of the problem. For instance, there are rarely any arrests made on doctors that are basically giving away meds with little to no follow up.

Are police trained in how to handle these things compassionately? After all, protecting & serving is a service offered to all citizens. Are we treating citizens fairly, or are some being convicted as guilty before any trial?

One thing that can be done immediately to curb the problem is to dispose or your leftover meds via the newly purchased incinerators located in both Ripley and Ravenswood. These were purchased with funds from the SMSHA.

Another thing that we can do is to truly come together as a community. How many people take the time to talk to these alleged 'criminals'? Ask yourself "Am I familiar with the supports that those affected need?

The true cost of incarceration is a dire one. Locking people up costs us taxpayers a lot of money and it deprives children of parents. Each citizen that is lost to the system only furthers our national debt. I believe that reintegration into the community is the key to success. It starts with YOU & ME; that makes WE.

There are some available resources for those on drugs ect. Please refer anyone you know to Westbrook in Fairplain, Bomar House in Ripley, or perhaps even one of the various churches in the area.

After all, we have incredible resources in this community and at the same time we neglect the appropriate application of these said resources.

Remember that a country is only as good as its citizens. The tyranny of the prison industrial complex is just one of many obstacles in the way or progress.
