Either don't get a divorce or file the papers yourself.

Dang,$700.00 is cheap. I paid $3000.00 for mine. It was worth every penny. If you use a good lawyer then you can get all you are asking for and then some. Of course this was a couple years ago. It might cost alot more these days. But whatever it cost now i would still pay a good lawyer. It's well worth the money in the long run.
JUST BASED ON MY OWN DIVORCE.

It's not going to be a messy divorce, all I want is my maiden name back. And I hear you can file yourself , does anyone know how to go about doing that ?

Go to google and google do it yourself divorce. You can do it and all it might cost you is the court costs if any. But if children are involved, you might as well get a lawyer. I worked up my own divorce agreement and turned that over to my lawyer and then the lawyer served the papers to the other party. I had three children but didn't have to go to court for the final disposition. But that was 15 years ago and times have changed since then and I was living in another state.

if you have child(ren), but have everything worked out without a fight, and want your maiden name back, you should not have to have a big hubaloo. but best make sure you agree about child support and visitation and how property is to be handled...

Howard does not appreciate folks who are not up front and honest. If its clean cut and no children and both parties just want out....then $275.00. Draw up your own papers on how you want it to read and he will go from there with it.

I agree. As any attorney would not appreciate not getting all the facts up front...he got all the facts upfront, its not contested.it was supposed to be the simple,no dispute,no children version.until he found out he could could make more off this one.I agree he does alot of 275.00 ones when he knows that's it.just saying don't be so quick to praise him.when you don't know every case.you can only speak to your own experience
