I served on the Govenors Task Force last year for the Placement of the Veterans State Museum. Mr. Swisstack is not telling the whole story as to why Rio Rancho did not get the location. The Task Force reviewed several locations Statewde and decided 19-1 on Las Cruces with funding directed to that location. The late Nat Holzer's collection was disscussed during the meetings but it was decided to take donations from private collections State wide to represent all New Mexico Veterans from all military theaters. As for funding of the design, construction, and building, it is my understanding that the City of Las Cruces would absorb a large part of the expenses with a little hep from the State, I'll have to review my paperwork and notes which I still posses. Rio Ranchos representative was very argumentative and arrogant which I believe lost the location for them during the meetings. There are many more details I could go into but the space here is limited.
