The bible also says that filthy language and telling a lie is a sin. I know that you are guilty of one and would say that you have done the other. There are probably a bunch of boy scouts that tell lies, cuss, spill their seed out of marriage and other stuff that the bible says are a sin. Why start dropping the boy scouts now?
Because we do not get to heaven by WHAT we do. but what Christ did for us. After we accept Christ as our Savior, then the Holy Spirit clasps us in his hand. We belong to Him.(The Trinity: Father, Son, Holy Spirit) An ongoing lifestyle that does not honor God should call into question whether your salvation experience was genuine. We are forgiven because we will not live the perfect life, but continually living a lifestyle that does not exhibit that we have become a Christian needs to get our attention. Christ died for our past, present, and future sins. What we have here are so many who do not have an understanding of the gospel and a relationship with Christ.

"Chef" has his mind made up, why confuse him with facts?
To believe everything that is stated in the scriptures is "fact", particularly when the scriptures were written by men, in other languages, translated by other men, and then stored in several different editions, takes a leap of FAITH. Different Christian denominations disagree on the interpretations of scripture. Some accept homosexuals, for instance, while others do not. Some natives on an island in the South Pacific worship cargo planes. To them, their doctrine is FACT. Point being that one man's scripture is not necessarily another man's FACT -- Just like evolution to a creationist, even when supported with scientific FACTS, is a boldface lie. So please be certain of one thing, I am only confused by the contradictions of religion, not religion itself. For instance, how is how some folks who call themselves Christians can treat homosexuals like lepers, while other Christians can find a way to accept them. That FACT confuses me. And please don't tell me that I'm a liberal or a homosexual myself. I am neither. Not that it matters to God.

The God many of us believe in isn’t waiting to judge you, or condemn you. He’s waiting to receive you with mercy, with love, with open arms, and forgiveness of all your sins.
“If you confess with your mouth,‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”— Romans 10:9
“To all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”— John 1:12
“He asked,‘What must I do to be saved?’ They replied,‘Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.’”— Acts 16:30, 31
Murderers cannot take back lives, liars cannot take back lies and adulterers cannot take back their adultery. BUT, they can all be forgiven by God, even at the 11th hour, and taken into his arms by accepting Jesus. Show me where it states that this rule doesn't apply to homosexuals, and that it's somehow up to folks here on earth to "judge" them?

So, the 'ye without sin can cast the first stone' does or does not apply to your theory of grace? And, does God look at homosexuals as worse sinners than all others?

Judge? When they are living the lifestyle right in front of us, that's a pretty obvious conclusion. However, of course they can be forgiven when they ask and turn from living that lifestyle. You don't ask for forgiveness for that and then carry on with it.

They are not yours to judge. They are God's. And he will decide when and where to "forgive" them. Shame on you!

We are expected to avoid nasty characters. Judgment is to be used, note the root word there. According to you and others of your ilk we would have put up with the Nazis and given them understanding (of course many tried that and many of them died including clerics). What part of good judgement don't you people understand?

Say what? You somehow equate homosexuals to Nazis, who killed thousands of "queers" for being unable to sexually conform to the Aryan "master race" norm. And they did they not hide behind the "scriptures" as an excuse. They even rooted out gay Nazis, and sent them off to prison, or murdered them. Not to mention Jews, Gypsies, Jehovah Witnesses and the disabled. Nasty characters? Gays and Nazis are somehow the same in your sick world -- People whose only crime is being attracted to folks of the same sex, as opposed to devils who killed millions of innocent people and almost destroyed the world? This only begins to show the depth of your ignorance. Avoid those "nasty" homosexuals all you'd like, because I'm sure they've got absolutely no use for you. And once again, SHAME ON YOU. You would have made a good Nazi.

Again, one speaking who knows enough to throw around an idea but has no understanding of what was just stated. The MAIN point is to REPENT -- that means the person will no longer ACT upon his sinful desires. The sin of this CONTINUAL lifestyle cannot be forgiven unless he turns away from it. If one has those 'feelings,' then he will not act upon them.

Get over it. Lay down with dogs and rise with fleas is the operative sentiment in my post whether homosexuals or Nazis. Quit trying to divert the conversation by your rant.

Ignore the evil or tolerate the filth, it is all the same. Quit trying to make other feel guilty because your tolerance of filthy habits of homosexuals doesn't bother you.

Repent. A Roman military term used the same way that our military uses about face. It means to turn from sin. Also, the word is used in the Old Testament as a Hebrew word nacham that means to comfort your mind or to console yourself. In the New Testament it is used as the Greek word metanoeo which means to change one's mind for better, heartily to amend with abhorrence of one's past sins. Like turning your back on sin......but don't be a fool. Sin is still there.

Neither one of these words or definitions come close to meaning someone will no longer ACT on their sinful desires. It means that someone will come to hate their sin and possibly comfort their mind by turning away from it as long as their willpower will let them. This is a daily process, not as you suggest that you repent and magically stop acting on sins desire. It is an every day procedure and I'm sure that if you are honest you will admit that even you yourself as righteous and wise as you are still have those days of weakness and temptation is strong resulting in the ACTing on of a desire.
Do you know why we sin? Because we like it.

Have you ever burnt your hand on a hot stove eye? If so you probably didn't like it much and haven't made it a habit to walk by hot stove eyes touching them just to feel even a little bit of the burn. We are human; we don't do what feels bad but we are drawn relentlessly to what feels good.(may not feel good when it is over but sin feels good in the moment).

so having cleared up that whole 'Again, one speaking who knows enough to throw around an idea but has no understanding of what was just stated.' misunderstanding on your part; I hope that maybe you will start to understand that yes, the homosexual can repent today.....hating the sin that they are living in....but tomorrow maybe they read someones post on Topix that said they were going to hell for sinning different than the one who posted and had one of those weak days, maybe Jesus was hard to see because of all the Pharisees standing around Him, so in that weak moment the sinner acted on his sin... later he may repent and grow stronger in his relationship with Christ. if the church will let him.

oh my. I bet that when I say Jesus hung out with whores and prostitutes it makes those little self righteous hairs stand up on the back of your neck. The filthy habits of a whore didn't bother God; matter of fact He took up for her and told the legalistic trash of His day that the one among them without the filthy habit of sin could cast the first stone.

Go ahead and puke your venom like a Pharisee casting stones but I'm not trying to make anyone, especially you, feel guilty. Shame and humility maybe. It is not tolerance any more than saying Jesus tolerated the whore. He loved her enough to die for her so He cared enough to show it. Jesus loved you and the homosexual enough to die for both of you.... if you understand that and understand that you are not better than the homosexual then maybe you will start caring enough about Jesus' sacrifice to start showing it.

Lot of Pharisees throwing the word Judge around on here.......

He (God) said to the judges,“Consider what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the LORD who is with you when you render judgment. Now then let the fear of the LORD be upon you; be very careful what you do, for the LORD our God will have no part in unrighteousness or partiality or the taking of a bribe.”

When you judge (you can split hairs and call it what you want to but judging is judging).... but when you do it is God really part of it? Maybe it is just your opinion and believe me I know that ''christians'' are passionate about their opinions, but is God really part of it. I see hate and homophobia. unrighteous abuse and partiality being shown to NON homosexuals. God said be careful because He wasn't part of that mess. If He ain't part of it then who is?......... Satan.

It is clear that you see homosexuality as the world sees it and I know God said that the sin of homosexuality was an abomination but how does He see His child that is suffering from the sin?

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You

folks , we could banter away for years about the divisions between legalism and conservatism in the church.
while we argue ,and continue to be divided....the world dies.
does it take a tribulation for Christians to agree? i absolutely think so! get ready, oh not like the "rapture" preachers tell you....:) get ready for discomfort ,and in that you might find unity.

Good luck with that! You'll be waiting a lot longer for that, I truly believe, than that clown who keeps waiting for the "Rineyville BRAC Scandal" will be waiting for justice to come to Judge Berry.

It is not possible to be both a true Christian and a republican. Jesus was a socialist. Don't believe me? Read your Bible, it practically screams it. The point of being a "Christian" is to be Christ-like, which is what the word means in the first place. What these churches are doing is just about as far from Christ as you can get.

I suppose you had better read a little further. And YOUR church is which?
