Nineteen Die On Kentucky Roadways Last Week

Why does Kentucky have so many narrow roads with out shoulders and such limited drivers training? Itís a false savings of dollars at the expense of people lives.
I agree with you about the drivers training. It really needs to be overhauled. However, if people would just slow down, the vast majority of accidents would never occur, shoulders or no shoulders.
If people are going to drive drunk and not wear seatbelts there ain't a whole lot you can do.
Actually, the wider and straighter the road, the more accidents.

I am by no means an engineer but I have lived in kentucky, Indiana, California, Mississippi, Michigan, and texas.
What IS unique out of these states to kentucky that I have lived is......well.....Moutains. Makes it very expensive to put a shoulder on a road that is hanging off a cliff.
As far as drivers training. Well I have no idea what Kentuckys drivers training is. But if it's less than the other states I have lived then their must not be ANY drivers training. Indiana had I know for a fact approx 1 week that was voluntary. And the other states were very simular.
Now that there is no more drivers training classes taught at the schools it will just continue to get worse. Each year more teens are killed on our roads. This is something that won't get any better with better roads. The only training I have heard of is the defensive driving classes they teach the elderly. They drive less and slower than anyone else so why do they get these classes for next to no fee?

Totally agree with the first point but the second just isn't true in Jessamine County, at least when it comes to accidents with injuries,
It is true. The better the road, the more accidents.
You should come to Upper Brush Creek Road in Casey County! There is NO shoulder on the road. Where there is drainage, there are HOLES where the pavement ends!! The road is very narrow.
