Some Kentucky churches pull support from Boy Scouts; no decisions in Lexington

Jun 5, 2013 Full story: Lexington Herald-Leader 1,114

At least three churches in central Kentucky - including one of the state's biggest churches - have said they are cutting ties with the Boy Scouts of America following the organization's decision last month to allow gay scouts.

I approach the Bible with a willingness to accept that it says what it says. What it says is that xianity is blasphemy, Jesus is a false god, and Paul was a false prophet who led people AWAY from the God of the Bible.

Its kinda like selective hearing except its selective reading, hear what they want, read what they want, and interpret things to go along with their defective reasoning.

I think understanding context is based on an individuals perception of what it is and practice is living right as in don't lie, steal, cheat, fornicate with your neighbors wife. There are 10 commandments for a reason.

It comes from the medieval practice of illiterates making a sign of the cross in place of actually writing out their name. Cross = X... Xian = christian

The Bible says that you are a liar. Without following the Laws, you will not get into Heaven, regardless of what you profess to believe. For those times when you fall a little short (sin) all that is required is your SINCERE repentance.
Worshiping a false god like Jesus will not do you any good, since it is blasphemy - a MAJOR sin.
Which laws? I assume you are referring to the 10 commandments?

So what you are saying is if someone follows the laws then they go to heaven? Has anyone ever followed the laws? Isn't it impossible to follow the laws? Haven't we all lied? Haven't you lusted at the sight of a woman? Ever not gone to church/sabbath one time in your life? Did you honor your parents everyday their whole lives or were you kind of a rotten son...at least a few times during your life. So, unless you are intellectually dishonest I'm sure you'll agree everyone has done rotten things in their lives, we can all be pretty disgusting at times, we may put on a pretty front for everyone to see but we know our own thoughts and motivations and heart. We've all done some bad things. Are we not accountable? How will we not be punished? What are you going to say, I did more good things then bad? How does that work, what is the heavenly percentage? If I do 95% good and I am only bad 5% of the time I get into heaven? What's the ratio 90/10, 99/1, 70/30? How good do you have to be to make up for the bad? What if I obey the 10 commandments most of the time.......I only break them every now and then. How much good do you have to do to get into heaven?
As long as I don't kill anyone am I allowed to miss church 50 times during my life or is it only 2 times I'm allowed to miss? What if I kill someone? Am I doomed to hell without hope? What if I kill someone hurting my child then what? Am I off on a technicality or am I still doomed? What's my hope then? Since I can be good enough and do enough good works to go to heaven how good do I have to be, how many times can I mess up and still be ok?

Oh and p.s. back to your repentence comment.....how does that work exactly, I mean and can be sorry and I can repent but I'm going to screw up again....at some point I'm going to do something considered a sin against God. Do I just repent every 10 minutes throughout life and hope I don't get killed suddenly while having one unrepented for sin?

I mean if I keep most commandment most of the time........and I repent regularly am I pretty good to go to heaven then? How do you know when you've been good enough, how do I know I haven't forgotten to repent for a few things or what if I die while I'm in the middle of falling off the wagon. What if I die while skipping church, I've told a few lies, I'm having a bad week and I feeled pretty pissed about things, I tell a few people off break a few commandments....I plan on repenting after I cool down and come back to myself but I never have the chance I'm killed in a car wreck. What then? Do I know I did enough good before hand to cover every thing? What sins are worthy of hell and which aren't.

I mean if a man rapes and murders my sister and the man repents and says he's sorry and he's good from that moment on does the judge get to just let him off to go free? Doesn't he have to pay for what he did? What sins am I allowed to get off free and which ones must I pay? How can you tell me when I've been good enough to be free of punishment? How often must I repent?

Your questions show a deep ignorance of what the Bible says./ ALL of the laws were given to be kept FOR EVER. Yes, sometimes people end up breaking one of them. That is why the Bible also included procedures for repentence, including the point that what matters most is not the sacrifice, but the sincere prayer acknowledging the error along with a desire to not do it again.

Christ died ONE time on the cross for our sins. It is what HE did. You are completely correct in that there will never be perfection in our lives. Therefore, how GOOD do we have to be - impossible. How many WORKS would we have to do -- irrelevant. We ask for forgiveness specifically how we have failed today. When we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit SEALS us... We are not in and out of Christ's mercy and grace. However, we want to ATTEMPT to live a life that glorifies HIM. We have SIN nature. Going to church does not 'save us.' If we love the Lord, have accepted Him as Lord of our life, WHY would we NOT want to go. Don't understand excusing that away. That's how we learn and grow and gather to WORSHIP Him. He delights in us and wants a RELATIONSHIP with us. Some of these responders have NO idea. This focus on LAWS -- they have missed the point.

Gross conceptual error. When you fail, the God of the Bible expects you to repent and atone, and do your best to not sin like that again.

Sinning is nothing more than missing the bulls eye with your archery. And for the most part, it is only slightly more serious.

Worshiping a false god cannot help you with the God of the Bible. He expects His worshipers to do their best to follow ALL of the Laws that He handed down through Moses.

There is no such thing as a "sin" nature. Genesis pointed out that even Cain had the free will to choose to not sin. Deuteronomy says that he Law is right here among His people, just so that it CAN be followed. The God of the Bible does NOT expect "perfection". He expects a sincere effort, and sincere repentence when the mark is missed.

Well it sounds like you and others are at an impass. You seem to believe the Bible....but only the old Testiment (Torah) so I'm assuming you are a Jew because you seem to have a stout rejection of Jesus as the messiah sent by God for the salvation of the world. I'm never going to reject Jesus as the son of God, the one who was perfect and holy and died for the sins of the world and who was raised from the God on the third day. I will never renounce that so you can stop telling me he was just some dude who was executed. I'll leave one parting shot about Jesus and then I'll stop talking to you about it because it doesn't seem like you are going to change your heart either so we are at an impass and there really isn't any reason for us to discuss this topic anymore.

Jesus said I and the father are one. John 12:44-49
Jesus cried out and said, He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me.
I have come as a light into the world that whosoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.
And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him - the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
For I have not spoken on My won authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I shoud speak.

You are not only rejecting Jesus but God who sent Jesus (I and my father are one)

John 14-7
If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.

You say you believe in God here is what Jesus says to the Jews who claim he is not of God.

John 8: 42-44
Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.
Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.
You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him.

John 8:47
He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because YOU ARE NOT OF GOD.

John 8:56
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.
Then the Jews said to Him, You are n ot yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?
Jesus said to them, MOST ASSUREDLY, I SAY TO YOU, BEFORE ABRAHAM WAS, I AM.

If you reject Jesus you are rejecting God. Jesus and God the Father are one.

Jesus fulfilled every old Testiment prophecy of the coming messiah. If you reserch that you will find it to be true.

I pray for your heart brother.

a very fascinating post coming from you. And quite ironic since we have argued back and forth over these issues.

We agree on:
'Christ died ONE time on the cross for our sins. It is what HE did. You are completely correct in that there will never be perfection in our lives ...how GOOD do we have to be - impossible'

'How many WORKS would we have to do -- irrelevant.'

'Going to church does not "save us."'

Silly, ignorant child, I HAVE researched it, and that is EXACTLY why I reject the false claims about Jesus. He FAILED more of the prophecies than he fulfilled.

Where is the world peace? Or, if we take a far more narrow view of it, where is the peace for Israel? Have they had peace over the past 2000 years?

When were the lost tribes gathered back to the land of Israel?

Where is the rebuilt Temple? Heck, when Jesus lived and died, the Temple was still standing, so it would have been IMPOSSIBLE for him to have fulfilled that one.

John, you are exactly right. A few on here are so far from knowing the Truth. I cannot relate to that kind of mindset since I accepted Christ when I was about 9 years old. All throughout my life, I have had an awareness of the importance of his being a part of my life, my marriage, my daily walk. Thanks for expounding more than I did. I have concluded that we are hitting a brick wall: Satan.
