Harry, its been long overdue. Maybe, lcpd will move forward now that the daddy of the good-ole boy system is finally gone(HOPEFULLY). It's funny that as soon as harry's boy, dennis romero was let go, he's retires. I'm sure both romero's will open a good-ole boy daycare.

We are hardly setting a trend. The type is pretty much nation-wide. Being chief of police is a high-stress, low exercise job. You can't drink, donuts are available, and food is the major way to relieve stress. Give the guy a break.

Maybe in the "real" world Police Chiefs don't drink - look at Pete's picture - HE'S 51!!!!!! Looks like he's easily pushing 61. Wow, and we want our police officers to be in shape? What happened to "leading by example"? Pete is one of Harry's good ole boys, he fits into that position just perfectly. He'll prove it - watch. Boy we know how to pick 'em don't we? Terrence is almost as much of a goofball as Pete is.

The only "bar" that's relevent to Pete was the Welcome Inn. I'd say the bar has been closed rather then lowered. Pete's not only obese, his nose looks like it's about to drip blood the vessels are that expanded.

Or is the bar simply being lowered.

Why can't you cop haters stop bashing the police at every chance you get? A lot of you can not resist an opportunity to make comments about your local police force. Why don't you just admit that you hate cops? No matter who the police chief is or what accomplishments and improvements are made you will always have an axe to grind or something to say. If it's not their weight than you will make fun of the mannerism, speech, or perhaps a mistake. Here's a news flash. Police are human too. Having said that cops are human we can also say that they are imperfect. Therefore, those of you perfect people without sin cast the first stone.
Some of you bash the police because your the reason why we have to have police in the first place. For those of you who are just whiners why don't use that energy for something good? Instead of bashing the police do something positive and not negative. Volunteer in community projects that will make our neighborhoods safer. You can volunteer in the victims assistance unit. If you don't want to do that then organize or join a neighboorhood watch group. Maybe help cover up gang grafitti(spelling ?).
A lot of you will try to justifie your negative rhetoric with bad cop stories or arm chair quarterbacking. Well, it is easy to find something wrong with any group of people, espicially a group you don't like.(Religious, political, government, business, ethnic, etc.) If it's such a horrible thing to bash someone for their religion or ethnicity than their legitimate occupation should be off limits as well.
If you think you can do better than the chief than why don't you apply for the position? I'm sorry,... that would require to to first make it as a cadet and then a police officer.(Something most of us can't do.) Also, being a police officer would require you to take an oath to uphold the same laws and constitution that gives you the right to say dumb things about the police.

No one here is bashing the police department.

At some level, the head of our (or any)
public safety department (local, county, state, or any),
subject to ridicule if the wind blows wrong,
should be at the very LEAST,
more above reproach than say an overweight ten year man.

These forums and threads, if nothing else, expose what if only
on the surface walks and talks the walks and talks of the ducks.

The current and the coming chief of police not only look the look.

They waddle the waddle.

So what's wrong with that?

I'll tell you. The leaders are the example the others
should also be at least within healthy height to weight ratio.

They'll be on full pension benefits. Not Obama care.

Good luck to our new fat chief of police.

If he loses ten pounds because of this, you can both thank us.

For all you people who like to judge, like to offer rude remarks, and offer nothing to Las Cruces.....apply and MAKE IT through the next academy. MAKE IT THROUGH. Now I am sure you all are Mr. GQ and Barbie AND you would never let yourself go. I am sure you all are model perfect and have such a charming demeanor. You manage to work 10+ hour shifts, go to court on your free time, deal with society's nightmares, accept scrutiny with finesse, be willing to take a bullet for those who don't give a damn, and still go to the gym to maintain your sexy figure. After 25+ years of being society's slave you will look hot, have a dashing personality, and do the cat walk with your eyes closed. You will not have love handles from sitting in a cramped car, a bad complexion from all the 15 minute dash and dine breaks, and you will not have one white hair from the stress. Your spouse would not have left you from the stress of being an officer's spouse, you won't have a drug/alcohol problem, and you won't suffer from depression. After 25+ years of being society's slave (a police officer) you will have it all together, you will be thin, and you will be hot. Think again. Give our cops a break.

Mr. GQ got himself pretty uniform and now he is going to tell us how it is. If the looser who went to academy for a few month to get a job driving car, got himself a real job maybe he would have some life , not a delusion of grandeur, writing tickets for seatbelts. That however requires brains, and determination, both of those nonexistant amongst cops.

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Leo

Even though you usually pride yourself on being the strong silent type, love has a way of unlocking your tongue. The words coming out of your mouth may be familiar, but your sense of timing makes all the difference right now. Keep in mind that you never know how a risky gesture will work out, although you can always hope for the best. When in doubt, take the more cautious path.
