From Las Cruces, New Mexico, where the Judaic teachings of Jesus have been replaced by the local governments with the idolization of the Trinity crosses.
Once again the city has provided a peak into the traditions of the city government and shown who and what tax money can buy. It's like a church declaring a miracle when times are grim since the Milken Institute is in the 'miracle' business to provide standings for cities that pay their fee. The city pays the fee and Milken Institute brags about the wonderment of Las Cruces until next time a payment is due. Or the cowboys come to town.
Every customer is different depending on the service provided, so just try to find out how much the city pays.
My dear Mr. Wiener Bomb, please crawl back under your rock, neither your mendacity, nor your comments are welcome in Las Cruces. You lost m*o*r*o*n, give it up.

It wont last for long guys. The Sante Fe government is doing everything it can to run this state into the ground with their new laws to protect the criminals. To be honest our city council is not far behind them.

What else would you expect from Las Shithole?
The fattest ugliest natives.
Most teenage pregnancies.
Highest dropout rate.
Lowest educated per capita.
Most welfare recipients
Most animal and child abuse.
Highest crime rate for city of size
Dumbest laziest illegal population
Worst NCAA football team.

I think you forgot one more category--dumbest blog entry of the year. Good job.

While PW has lessened the ultimate message of his argument by peppering it with his Tourette tic about religon, even long term native who have traveled far and wide must admit when you don't have far to fall down the economic ladder, the statistical 'performance' is not much in comparison to others.
Of course LC is behind Midland on many lists, but if Midland is the epitome of what is being evaluated do we need to waste our ink on printing such 'no news'?
The Las Cruces baseline for unemployment is much higher than other places because many long gave up on finding full time work and are underemployeed or those wanting to work are meerly subsisting on the income of family members. Underemployed and those who are not actively sending out resumes for jobs as monitored by the unemployment commission are not counted in the unemployment numbers cited by most. The U6 information is available, but who wants to wade though the truth when you can print fairytales? http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t12.ht...

While I DO agree Unemployment Statisics released by the government are inaccurately low for the very reasons you state, Unemployment in Las Cruces is still FAR below the national average. I'm curious how they count university students in the equasion. Enrollment here is what, 25,000?
By the way, your link is to National stats. Unemployment is regional, just like real estate. You can't compare our real estate market to Detroit can you?

You should go have coffee with Weinbaum to discuss your next destination.

I'm far more concerned about what's going on in Washington than Las Cruces. Some locals just don't appreciate how good we have it here.

LC is a cesspool of under-aged pregnancies, coupled with the highest per capita instances of child abuse and/or child molestations in the country. Who cares what some crappy survey says about the town, the people are what the problem is.

Perhaps if some taxpayer would get the budget figures from MVEDA and run a cost benefit analysis more would know the folly of paying Mr. Davin Chavez more than $100K in salary and benefits.
Considering how many low paying jobs have been lost in Dona Ana County over the last year and viewing Mr. Chavez' inability to drive sober, does it make sense to pay someone this much public money and have a city ranked ninth?
And here's a great odds on bet: If Mr. Chavez' last name were Jones or Smith or Duncan, his little hiney would already be out the door.
The man embarrased Las Cruces and Dona Ana County by driving his BMW into the side of an innocent girl's vehicle while he way more than intoxicated. He did this out of state in a major media market, which sent the news everyone.
I read comments from some apparently clueless individual representing the MVEDA board, saying they had full confidence in Mr. Chavez and his abilities. And the clueless one said nothing would be done until the judicial process is completed.
This is all wonderful codespeak for: Screw you the public, we're going to do what we want to do.
I think it's time there was a big examination of the public-private nature of MVEDA and how much money it gets and what it does with it.
The outfit has hid behind closed doors for long enough. I lived in Las Cruces. I pay taxes in Las Cruces and Dona Ana County.
I want this coverup of a drunk driver who gets public money exposed. If it were you or I, we wouldn't be driving today.
The idea of private donors give an organization money when the head of it could kill someone because they are alocholic and break numerous laws should annoy them into action.
We certainly are not going to sit by and let this incident go.
Ninth place or not! Mr. Lopez is a public liability.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Mr. Chavez makes $100k + benefits, but that's irrelevant.
MVDA DOES bring LOTS of jobs and tax revenues to Las Cruces. You refer to jobs lost. Yes, we have lost a lot of jobs in our market, but when you compare it to the national rate, we are STILL holding VERY strong. The REA plant for instance, laid everyone off due to the economy. When the announcement was made, they indicated they would hang onto the facility with the hopes of opening it again. Not happening.... Due to the National economy. They put the building up for sale recently.
As for Chavez' DWI, if he's found guilty,(and I suspect he will be.... but he needs his day in court) he needs to pay his debt to society, and perhaps lose his job.
You seem to bring race into the picture, indicating that if he were caucasion that he'd be out the door immediately. What if his name were Kennedy???? Race has nothing to do with the value of job perfomance. Once you hold a position of public trust, your personal life comes under scrutiny. Some people survive it and some don't.
Kennedy continued his political career after driving off a bridge, leaving a passenger to die and Van Jones got the boot for having openly communistic values. Hmmmm...
It's a conspiracy I'm tellin' ya LOL!

I find your post amusing! So... either you can't afford to live in an nice place, or you are living on welfare and your check is late....

You should contemplate living elswhere if you cannot stomach out diversity, culture and relative economic stability.

Perhaps you might be happier in Detroit, Las Vegas, Phoenix, New Orleans or Miami and the like???

EVERY City has their issues.

Like Las Cruces or not, we have a LOT to be grateful for.

Career call on this commenter: Real Estate Agent--someone who would prefer that a client can't read between the lines as they play salesman. Or woman. No man would use three question marks and CAPs for emphasis.

Your diversity is a fascist regime, supporting anti-white loosers your culture is non existant and your economic stability is a stability of a looser living with his parents in a house size of garage paid for in 50's. Your wages are equal to thoise in US 40 years ago your schools produce illiterates , your government is the most corrapted fascist regime in US and your police is the most violent outfit in the south. You do however lead in numer of pregnancies amongst teenagers and drunk drivers.Wander if that is part of your culture or diversity. It's not how pathetic shithole NM is it's that there are actually people in denial or naive to the point that they are trying to defend this joke. That is scary
