this is a perfect reason for more internet policing and much, much harsher sentences. deterrent laws rarely work with these sickos, they have no perception of being caught. so why bother trying to rehabilitate them? lock them up forever, or worse.

A rope and a nice large tree limb would suffice for a sentence.

These are awful crimes and they are everywhere.Poeple do not understand that people like him are around our children all the time.It takes a year or more to even get them to court, and then its continuences one after another. So dont even think for one second that once these people have charges against them they are locked up because that's not how it happens. The system drastically needs to change for our children to be protected.

Everything you say is true, except the comment about the system requiring changes.
Never look to the "system" to protect your children. Parents must raise and protect their own children.
Remember, it 'Takes a Village' to threaten the children, so it is illogical to trust the village to raise them.

it is a never-ending source of amazement to me that these sick SOB's continue to fall into the same traps over and over--after how many Dateline shows and stories on the news every night about these creeps coming up to go after a young girl that's really a cop on the other end of the internet. Makes one wonder how many of these animals really manage to hook up with real young kids--they don't seem to be stopping this sort of stuff after falling into the same trap time after time. Well, we know what part of their anatomy they are thinking with and it's not their brain...sheesh.

I dread to think about what this man has probably done to children in his 66 years. I can't imagine that he just recently woke and decided hmmm, I haven't had a virgin for a long time. Isn't he at least sane enough to realize he has a problem? I hope his past victims come forward so this nutcase can be locked for the rest of his miserable life!

Sunshine--- I agree with you. The system needs to change. There is a guy-Ralph Douglas Tracey- from Fairfield that go caught for internet porn. Last year around Valentines Day he was to go to court--got it postponed until January 14 of this year. I guess it got continued again because I watched the news and read all the papers, there was nothing anywhere about it. And I know it would make the news and papers because it did all the other times. This man coached baseball, football and softball that I know of. And his wife use to babysit little kids out of their home. He should have been in jail a long time ago. Instead, I walk into WalMart a few wekks ago-- and there he was. Our system definetly needs to change.

You realize it sounds like your are suggesting abandoning the "innocent till proven guilty" foundation of our system. Are you ignorant to the many threats to our liberty, from a court system left unchecked? Our system is designed to fault in favor of allowing the guilty freedom, in order to prevent the ultimate injustice of imprisoning the innocent.
Sorry if that it scares you, but freedom is only for those capable of handling it's responsibilities. If the courts do not deem the suspect an immediate flight risk or threat, he is allowed freedom, or at least the ability to post bail.
As heinous as this crime is, do you realize how easy it is to fake computer evidence? Particularly if you are using a Windows computer. 1 email, with 1 attachment could install a macro on your machine, that could easily put on your hard drive any pictures the police wanted you to own.

(Also I hope you are at mature enough to understand that I am defending the 'system' not any person or criminal in particular)

i guess my only concern to ur opinion is the fact that this man showed up to the diner w/ codoms, ky jelly, gifts for these children, along w/ alcohol for them to drink! the evidence in his vehicle supported his e-mails, therefore this was clearly not a "stage" by the police ... i understand that isn't exactly what you said - but you definatley implied it. i have to agree w/ everyone else - this sorry SOB NEEDS to stay behind bars!

I'm sorry Gburg Mom, but did you not read the last sentence in my post? My post has nothing to do with any person or criminal in particular. I knew when I wrote it that people would confuse my intentions which is why I added the sentence in parenthesis.
I do not know how to be any clearer- maybe pictures or a circle with a slash? After all, that is what our society is degrading towards.

The system requires defense from modern day 'witch hunters', because as our founding fathers recognized- We have more to fear from govts than from fellow citizens. Do not be lured into the false promise of security in place of freedom.

right, but OUR police, the ones who protect, your saying "placed" evidence ...
and i actually did read ur last paragraph ... with all good hopes, you'll be the next victim ... at least us who have children and WANT these pervs of the street, not defending them, won't be the next target!
witch hunters ... no ... EYE FOR AN EYE - YES!

GBurg-
I never said the police placed evidence in this case! Instead I stated how easy it is to manufacture computer evidence, if they desired. Again- I was defending the system, not this person. Why do you keep insisting on the opposite?
My posted words are very clear, and you are the only one who can not grasp the concept. It is over your head, go back to watching SpongeBob with your kids- debating with you is pointless, because you have no reading comprehension abilities.
