One of the worst parts of being depressed or needing counseling: When you break down and finally admit you need help, you find out it takes 2-3 mos to get into an appointment. It's almost like you need to begin a relationship with a counselor when you're sane "just in case you lose it" at some point.

I agree. It takes a long time to get in to see a therapist or psych. I was lucky due to having gone to the hospital where they set up the apt. I had seen an therapist that just sees you until a spot opens up. And blessed since the hospital waved my bills due to the income when I applied for assistance due to financial difficulty.
Lutheran Family Services is a wonderful place to get help if you need it. I tell everyone I know. I myself am Wiccan, and they do not preach. So if that is a turn off due to faith, they are open to all.:) They base it on your income but there is a month waiting list. Might be longer in other areas.
My psych helped with the prescriptions. Giving me samples and helping me apply on line directly through the drug company. The companies will send it directly to your psych office if you qualify. Something I didn't know about.
Goodwill Industries helps with job coaching if you have a disability. Mental of physical. I got assistance through them because of my social anxiety. My therapist didn't know about this program it was my psych that reffered me. He is awesome! I still have yet to get a job. But have gotten a lot of help with my condition.
I have Bi-Polar 1 with psychosis, social anxiety, and PTSD. The first episode flaired up when I thought we were going into another depression. Stress will flair up psychosis. Not having a job adds to the stress. I am just blessed that they have therapists and psychs out there that go above and beyond for their patients. I am so thankful for all the therapists and psychs out there that are trying to help us. I know you are probably stressed out, but you are our precious jewels. I wouldn't have celebrated my one year mark without psychosis without the help of these wonderful individuals. Thank you so much.
I just wanted to share these things hoping it helps others out there looking for assistance. Happy Holidays.
