I've lived here for 33 years and this town has lost more businesses than gained. Can someone tell me what's stopping Ridgeway from growing? I think too many families stuck in their old ways running the town for too many years.

I've been gone from Ridgeway for 33 years and when I come home what I see is a town maintaining what they have...with the exception of the Ridgeway school. They lost history there...to me it looks like Blythewood (Richland county) has exploded and Ridgeway is next. The price of real estate is through the roof now...be patient. The county seems to have focused all economic growth in Winnsboro...last laugh is on them. Ridgeway will continue to survive.

Don't wish for what we have here in NE Columbia. The first thing they'll do is take their bulldozers for a drive down your main street like a tornado, knocking down all your historical buildings. In their place will be metal and steel. No more history, no more character.
Oh yeah, and for good measure, they'll strip every last tree from your landscape. Let's appreciate Ridgeway just as it is as a last surviving piece of old American culture that we should preserve. Once it's gone, it is gone.....

Hi Suzanne...

Let's just hope the developers decide to use the bypass by the old Charm plant and develop Longtown road...lol. Who knows? It is another way to get to Camden! Can you picture in your mind how big "Reeves Corner" could be? I can see a Cracker Barrel there now...

I believe you may be scaring people off with your speed trap on 34 near the railroad track...no posted sign when turning from the traintracks (speed is supposedly still 25) and you think you are okay because you are doing 35 when you see a 35mph sign and then bam...100-200 fine since you were going 10 over! you can only grow so much when working off of ticket income. But way to double the size of your police department!

HA, they have been doing that for a looooong time now. You'd be amazed how much money two cops can pull in!! I don't believe that the speed trap scares people away, it just makes them remember not to speed through town next time. Be on the safe side, just go 25 from the post office to the fork before the motel!!
