The Battle wrote: <quoted text>you are right, that man is as guilty as charge, he manipulated Carla's mind because he knew she was very weak for him. I am willing to bet something in that same fashion will happen to his present wife. Carla could be innocent and she could be guilty, but Keyon had his hands in this mess. Those were fake tears on that stage. God sit high and look low, what done in the dark will come to the light. I only heard about this case when TruTV (formerly CourtTV) covered the case. I wasn't able to see all of the trial coverage, since none of us can sit glued to a TV set from morning to afternoon. However, from what I did see, I firmly believe the prosecution did NOT have enough solid evidence or proof to convict Ms. Hughes. I strongly believe this was a wrongful conviction, and I hope her family and her attorneys will continue to fight it. Wrongful convictions have been reversed before, although it can take quite a while. I hope it will not take as long in Ms. Hughes's case.

BIG GIRL wrote: I DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE THAT CARLA COULD MURDER SOMEONE.WHAT JPD SHOULD DO IS GET THE PERSON THAT LET CARLA BORROW THE GUN AND KNIVE.IF THEY WOULD HAVE NOT LET HER USE THOSE WEAPONS MAYBE AVIS WOULD STILL BE ALIVE.KEYON NEEDS TO BE A REAL MAN ABOUT IT AND TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT EVER HAPPENED. Her cousin shouldn't be charged for loaning her the gun/knife. She lied to him claiming it was for self defense, and that she feared that her home might be broken into. You have to give him credit for turning over information once he realized those weapons might have played a role in the death of Avis. A lot of family members wouldn't have!

I totally agree w/Grannyto8Alabama. The cousin was a stand up guy. Confronting Carla about what the gun might reveal if it were tested, and turning the information over had to be one of the hardest things he's ever had to do. It would have been for me, and I'm just hoping I would've had the courage to do what he did.

Idon't know if she did it or not but if she did, she damn sure had help, keyon didn't even call the police for help, he claim he was holding avis and hugging her to make her wake up, but he didn't have a drop of blood on him,and when did he meet this wife of his he has now? I think carla knows alot more than what she's telling, she should've spilled her guts at the trial, why take the blame and he's off with somebody else?

DIRTY RED wrote: NOT GRENADA MS !!! Greenville, MS. But everyone one keep saying how well known she was in Greenville. She was well known because her parents worked in the school system and she was put on this pedastal as if she couldn't be touched. Her and all of her associates are just alike, such as Jori Scott always willing to take of someone else husband. When we were in school Carla was a whore. Boys could fuck her outside at school if they wanted to and anywhere else. Yes she was a model in the community, of how not to be. Look where all those good grades she had has gotten her. And as for Keyon, those were the only two people that wanted him. Sound like someone who is jealous and did not do anything with their life.

It is so easy for everyone to spectulate about the events of that night when, in fact, only 3 people know what really happened - that's Kenyon, Carla, and Avis. I really don't think that Carla should have been convicted alone, because there are too many unanswered questions about her whereabouts & Kenyon's whereabouts on the day of the murder. I am a true believer that GOD IS NOT SLEEP, and even though Carla had a trial here on earth, both her and Kenyon will have to answer to God on judgement day.
