Firefighters Need Regular Checkups

Full story: FireFightingNews.com

We're like a family here. If a guy can't do the job physically, you'd expect him to say something. With all the strenuous demands placed on firefighters, you'd think annual medical exams would be a given. via FireFightingNews.com

YES YES YES as everyone knows pride and the thrill of the job gets in the way of safety. Someone should be there to let the person know when they have had enough and should do another job, in the same place, with a little less tension. NO ONE should die because of lack of a checkups. The last death may or may not have been caught but it is to late for that debate now !! EVERYONE should be able to pass an exam and there should be a cut off date on age for active firefighting...

Exams yes, cut off date no. If you can pass an exam you should be able to stay on. I've seen some pretty amazing guys in their late 60's that handle the pump better then any younger guy.

Recently the Faifield Fire Dept (all volunteer also),was given a grant from the state to have the volunteers have a complete physical exam,EKG,Pulmonary Function Tests,Blood work etc. Maybe the WMFD could look into the same.
If 1 life could be saved by preventative medicine,it would be well worth it.
I am thankful to all those who volunteer.
My husband has been a police officer for 28 years,he commends those who volunteer.
God Bless All the Volunteers & Keep Safe.

Daily Horoscope for December 2

Capricorn

The Gemini Full Moon brings situations at work to a head; there may be a sudden event that shakes up the office, but you should be free and clear of any real trouble. The real issue is the one you have most likely been avoiding: what sort of state is your health in? Have you been buying larger pants each year for the past three or four years in a row? Is your idea of strenuous exercise scooping hard ice cream out of the carton? If so, it's time for some changes.
