Wow....pong beer matches....what is this? The latest sports idea from Clare Rose beer distributors in Patchogue? It is too bad all of these drunk driving dudes don't have their livers and kidneys give out till old age and then we all have to pay for dialysis treatments for them. By then they have killed or maimed any number of people (many we never hear about - like child and spousal abuse) and yeah...."they are truly remorseful - what crap!!! Create special jail units with automatic 100 year life sentences for anyone and I mean anyone who kills, maims or injures from being a drunk driver. Period!

Can't argue with that. Drunk drivers 100% made the choice to get behind the wheel. It should be 2nd Degree murder at the very least because you know dammed well you can kill somebody.

You drink drive & get caught...your license is taken away forever. You drink, drive and kill somone, you go away forever. That is what the law should be. If you know you are going to be somewhere and have a drink, then make sure you are not the one driving. And make sure the person driving does not drink. Anything other than that is a conscious decision to commit a felony.

I predict in 5-10 years DWI laws will be MUCH stiffer...look at where they were 5-10 years ago and where they are now.

You should never ever ever get behinG
the wheel of a vehicle when you've been drinking. Of course, you can still write for Newsday, just don't drive.

I hope the drunk driving laws will get
stronger in sentencing, what's the different killing somebody with a knife or a car???
If one's life is so miserable that one
has to drink beyond what their senses
can handle, why murder other folks and get off so easily?

It's a Nassau/Suffolk thing. You see, the DA in Nassau has promised to crack down on drunk driving with harsher sentences and longer jail terms and... and... and...ummmmm.... uhhh. I'll have to get back to you.

I may be missing the point but two days ago a female cop who killed her partner for the exact same thing, dwi, got 6 months. Is there something wrong here?

Please! If you don't know how to drink and drive, don't do it! These people are just like the loud mouth drunk guy at the perty who starts fights and ruins it for everyone else.

They really need more low cost social activities in Suffolk County. Ever since the farmland got developed, there are fewer cows to tip.

So..beer pong.

How about hitting yourself in the arm with a Louisville Slugger. If you miss, you drink again. Or juggling ginsu knives while blindfolded.

At least your not taking someone else out with you
