Last night I went to pick up a phone order. When I got there, there was a police car in front of the place and the officer said they were closed due to an incident. Does anyone know what happened?

I will have to admit that stray cats are plentiful in the Mastic Beach area! If that's what I've been eating, they are tasty little critters! Maybe I should try the meow chow mein. hahahaha

I am pretty sure in all of my travels around the world; unknowingly, I have eaten food containing cat.

When I was in Ecuador, there are numerous restaurants where you go, pick out a live guniea pig and they kill/clean/ and cook it for you. To them it is considered a delicacy, but I passed it up every time.

I had a rice biryani containing camel. It was OK, the camel meat resembled a bit like center cut pork chops. That was amusing to tell to a muslim.

Found out what happened--4 drug addicts were stealing frozen shrimp and selling it to the restaurant so they could buy drugs. The owner to Tai Yu was arrested for receiving stolen property and the board of health also cited the restaurant.

This entire shopping center, along with Smitty's property would make a great village hall, hotel and convention center.

They don't care about Neighborhood Rd.
Ever time a shop try's to open the village comes up with some reason to make it hard for them.
It looks like they want to move the village shopping down to Mastic and Mastic Beach Rd. First a 7-11 then a Dunkin'Donuts wants to come in and now that guy Sal and Mario wants to tear down Smitys and put in a big gas station and a restaurant.
Remember Mario he is the guy who got the land use change at Gary's place. And he is also on the Village Chamber of Commerce board with Gary and Jill the village clerk.
How much can they put on the five corners? What will this do for traffic at that intersection and what about the houses on Quay Av a one way street.
I am sure the people living down there want to look out their front window and see a gas station.
Go to the hearing on March 6th at 5 PM at the Brookhaven Senior Nutrition Center 369 Neighborhood Rd.and tell the trustees enough is enough, its posted on the village website.
And ask what are they doing with Neighborhood Rd?
And if they approve this remember there is an election in March.

Yes a village hall and a yard for the DPW and Highway Dep after they raise the tax to pay for it.
To put a gas station there with all the traffic and the school kids trying to cross is just asking for trouble.
It also seems a bit fishy that this guy Sal wants the Board of Trustees to make a decision on this property before the new zoning laws have been accepted by the Board.
Sal and Mario are just looking to make a buck, they don't care about the people of the village.

a gas station and a restaurant? that sounds classy. NOT. is it a real restaurant or fast food? they are trying to keep it as quiet as possible so that nobody objects.

That's what Sal said about the Sons of Italy building on Neighborhood Rd,but he wanted to put in a deli,
Also Mario was hired by Gary to rezone his property at village ZBA, and they are both on the board of The Greater Mastic Beach Chamber of Commerce so I would think Gary should not vote on this.
But because its across from the school,I heard he wants to put in a fifty seat Sonic fast food restaurant.
Sal let the village dump their garbage behind Smitys after Sandy, and Gary said at a work session that he knew someone who would let the village store sand and salt in an open building a few weeks ago. The people at the meeting knew he was talking about Sal and Smitys
So I hope they shoot this down, because if they approve it, the public will wonder about this relationship with Mario and Sal and the quality of life for the people who live there.
This whole thing could be detrimental to all of Mastic Beach.

You are all making stuff up. First, there is already a gas station within spitting distance (M&L), and we don't need another one. Second, a gas station is not a change of USE it requires environmental and other zoning changes. The property is not suitable for a restaurant either...did you know it is on well water! I suspect Sal the investor is trying to pump and dump as we say, meaning he wants to change the zoning and try to sell it for more money. The only problem is nobody will be buying it.

Lets face facts, the property is perfect for a DPW yard and a nice village hall with a courtroom.

Yes it would be perfect for a highway dept, village hall and court. Do you think the current board could act responsibly and make a "Capital Budget" that would spell out all the costs to the taxpayer for this "Capital Expense"? Remember Lou Marccocia said repeatedly that you could only be "tax neutral" with NO capital expenses which means that there has to be a Tax Increase to support the Highway Dept, Village Hall and the Courts.

I wonder where I heard about these expenses before? Oh that's RIGHT this was all spelled out in the Forum Facts. It is amazing how EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING that was in those FORUM FACTS was 100% correct. Nothing and I mean nothing that was in the MBVEC " Cost and Expenses" was accurate. Remember they claimed that the budget was going to be $500,000. That has never happened the budget for MBV is close to $5million in only it's second year. Salaries and benefits alone are already over $1million dollars. We still do not have a Highway Department. How much more in taxes do we have to pay for a highway department? Or is that somehow going to be free or as you FOV's say "tax neutral"? Doubt that.

i was at the last village meeting and this person has applied for a permit to build a restaurant and gas station on this property. i am not making it up. go to village hall and foil it. grow up. not everything is about pro and anti village. this is about the fact that i want to know what kind of restaurant will be built.

Hey, I'm just pointing out what I think would be a better use of the property. I agree there would need to be some consideration for taxes if the village wants to make a capital improvement in the community. As for the forum facts, I seem to remember predictions of $2,000 a year tax increases and other idiotic things like fenced in waterfront. But let's stay on point. Taxes. Would the community be willing to spend some money to make the village better and more functional? That should be up to all the residents in the form of a referendum. But who am I to make recommendations.

BTW, with 5,000 houses each paying $100 more a year would raise $500,000 a year which could be used to improve MBV and benefit the residents who want to see progress.

We don't have any quality in this village, if we did they would be working on Neighborhood Rd.
And remember that Mario was the head of the first zoning commission that wanted to build up the water front and that Gary appointed him.
