When land is leased for no money to special interest groups or not for profit groups then their books must be open and readily asscessiable to all town taxpayers to ensure that the land is being used and actually accomplhishes the not for profit goal. Very ofter sports clubs in Brookhaven have no idea what rules govern a 'not for profit' group, the town must provide transparent evidence easily accessible that such agreements are benefiting other town residents and not just a free add-on without cost for any particular group.

Why would anyone begrudge people from enjoying themselves as long as they are not doing anything illegal or hurting others. Some people are so jealous when they see others doing something they enjoy. Perhaps because they do not have anything that they find interesting or satisfying

My backyard is very shady and it is hard to grow vegetables which need lots of sun. For a couple of years I had a nice garden over at the ecology site in Holtsville. It wasn't fenced in and the second year, after waiting all Summer for my corn to mature, somebody stole it. So that did not work out well. There needs to be an area that is safe because a lot of work and money goes into gardening and when somebody destroys it, it is very disheartening.

Lots that are not being used should be available to gardening, especially if the produce can be shared with others.

Hey Cliff. A bunch of respectable senior citizens have a garden on an acre of otherwise unused land on a 50 acre preserve. They aren't hurting anyone and they aren't costing the taxpayers anything. Why does this bother you ? Get a life, for God's sake. Do something useful rather than complain about something like this.

Dear Mr. Williams,
I know you have been to court on a number of issues, & you have had encounters with the police. It's very sad that you have to go into another community (TRESPASSING) to sit on a park bench, simply because you want to & feel no one else has any rights. You would not know about this park unless you were in fact TRESPASSING, since Leisure Village is a gated community.
