Someone buys a home to live in (not an investment) and that person is thinking about eventually refinancing it? That's not how to buy a home to live in. The goal is to pay down the mortgage eventually, not keep it into perpetuity. Maybe we just need to go through this difficulty to shake out that strange notion and get things back on track. 20% down should do it; at LEAST 15%.

You're wrong. It's not 1950 anymore. Most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and cannot afford...what? To save 80k??? They would be 60 years old if they were diligent, and scrimped and saved to save that amount.

What else would you expect from Crime-danch?

Regardless, pretty soon this country's gonna be a sewer itself. Thank you Bush administration.

No, more like 'temporary shelters', since they wind up either burning down or being foreclosed on.

Wyandanch is a hard working-blue collar community with traditional American values. Yes there is crime. Look at all the white clowns coming from nearby areas looking for drugs or prost.

(my server says Staten Island) that is not were I am. I doubled my salary and got 4 acres, lakeside, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, cherry floors 22 yr old house, great schools, friendly people, less then $300k. If you just have to live on LI you will pay for it. Enjoy the trash, and everything that comes with it. The best choice I ever made in my life, leaving Long Getto Island.

Yes, the honest and respectful Wyandanch citizens are the quiet majority of this neighborhood. With a town of many thousands, a certain few have made news headlines. But this isn't as often as the critics think.
