I'm 18 years old. From Georgia. Rich wood has been my favorite place on earth since I was little. The people are the kindest you can meet. Real southern hospitality at its finest. I remember taking all 9 of my first cousins down the cherry river during a flood 5-10 years ago. Some fishing trip! The great looking girl that worked at four seasons! Y'all may not think much of rich wood, but the people there and heritage of the place makes it incredible. Once richwood gets cleaned up, and it will happen!.. It will be the first place I wanna be.

Richwood is a place full of rich history. Once a thriving and industrious town has sunken to what it is today, as many of America's small towns. The years have not been kind to this small gem, with corrupt and very poor leadership. The Gateway to the Monongahela National Forest will forever be known as the Ramp capital of the world, a town of a rich past and fond memories.

I have never been there but I have a friend that is from there and he tells wonderful stories about the town and the prople. He tells me what it was like in the 60's. It soundes like it was a great place for kids to grow up. He also tells me of some wonderful teachers and many former students that returned to teach there.

I guess the coal and wood are gone and that has destroyed the economy of the town.

Best wishes and I hape to visit there with him some day.
Sad thing about Richwood

United States

The sad thing about Richwood is,that It is at a dead end,It drifts off into the forest.Every chance that Richwood was given to expand was shot down,Because of the old folks that never wanted change! At the expense of making the next generation suffer for it!The cost was running the town to the ground. Now we see no growth and abandon buildings and we are now spoke of as a drug town.(NOT ALL OF US ARE ON DRUGS)There are a lot of amazing people left in our little town.Things I like about Richwood are the falls,South Fork,The woods, the hills,Friendly old folks,Summer rains,The ramp feed :) and so much more... Live life to the fullest, We only have one shot enjoy it :)

They were not thinking about their kids and grand kids only about themselves,Very sad because the natives have to pay for their mistakes.

You and "Yes Agreed" are giving FAR too much credit to those supposed citizens involved. To blame the dire situation on people who have worked so hard for decades is ignorant. You can not blame the results of the current state of our town on the backs of a few dozens of workers who helped bring it to the glory it was in their early years.
