I have an idea, lets end them all to Jack Doffs house. He is looking for a solution. I think that might work unless he is one of them!?!

Chico is a great city. We have many great places to eat, shows and bars. Yes we have some homeless people but they are not a problem. They are down on their luck because of the Bush recession and all the rich people investing in businesses that are making products in China.

This will improve but these people need help. The city administration is doing a great job and the town is doing great.

Put down the crack pipe jack, the city was run to the brink of bankruptcy, the homeless have taken over city hall, one of our city councilors has been making decisions under the influence of Vicodin, our fire fighters are stealing our money at the rate of five times the butte county average salary, what the Eff do you think is going on jack? The part where people put their effin heads in the sand and proclaim everything is good is exactly what effed us up in the first place. Get a effin clue jack off!!

I know people who have moved their businesses from Chico due to the screwed up state of government affairs. Like most Cities in California, Chico is headed for default if they don't get a handle on Public employee Unions. The other choice is to continue to raise taxes.
Raising taxes is just prolonging the inevitable...
Detroit did it for years, but then itall came crashing down.

If not for the cash cow (Chico State U.) the city would have been bankrupt years ago.

The pensions are a problem, the homeless are a problem, growing crime is a problem, City water and sanitation are a growing problem and finally the city is basically broke.

We have elected one liberal group of city councilors after another and they have to take responsibility for the ill condition of the town at this juncture. It is time to recall this current group and get a real change of direction so we can actually solve some of these problems!

The Nature Center still owes the city more than $ 205,000 for a loan it took out in 2005 for construction of new exhibit and classroom facilities that were destroyed by a fire.
Why wasn't the loan recipient required to purchase fire insurance ?
Against the city finance director’s inclinations, Nakamura asked the finance committee on Tuesday to consider writing off the loan in acceptance of the reality of it ever getting paid back. Such an action would make the debt an obligation of the general fund, adding to an existing $7.7 million deficit.
I agree with you whole heartedly. Any civic loan to anything NOT ASSOCIATE with actual government responsibilities should be Insured.

Whether it was an oversight or just stupid the lesson is before us and should be codified in Law.

How so? His comments are simple statements of the affairs of Chico that are commonly known to it's citizens. Its time to calm down the inflammatory rhetoric and begin to think about what is really going on in Chico and many other towns in California. Life is not improving. Cleanliness and safety are both worse then they were 5 years ago and the effects can be directly traced to decision makers in the local city council. Chico's declaration of a refuge city for the homeless being one of these policies. I would like to see if we could put liberal vs conservative aside and talk as citizens wanting a better community for our families to live in.

There is no point in having a conversation with you about the town of Chico. You have no charity for anyone but your rich friends. The homeless are targets for your hatred because they spoil your perfect vision of a community. I have news for you, people are not perfectly made and sometimes they need help and it disgusts me when arrogant SOB's like you are so selfish and hateful!

OK Jacked Off, if chico is so great in its current state then why don't you go down to the city park with a fistful of money , by yourself at midnight and see what happens. I would lay odds that you would mess your drawers when the first scumbag approached you to demand the money!!!

Better yet, take a hike in Bidwell Park at night and see what crawls out of the brush. You are too stupid to keep yourself safe. Your friends the scumbags would just as soon slit your throat as listen to your insipid little gay boy voice!!!!

What do firefighters do when they are not on calls fighting fires?

Training takes up a great deal of their time when they are not at an emergency. Firefighters are required to have at least 20 hours of emergency-related training each month. Firefighters also participate in fire safety inspections, public education programs, and drive the community to become familiar with the area to reduce response time during incidents. Firefighters must also check and maintain their equipment and clean and maintain their stations.
AND MAINTAIN THEIR STATIONS but yet
Fixing the mold and water intrusion problem at Fire Station 5 will likely cost the city about $ 120,000 to $ 200,000 more than initially approved, according to a report by Public Works Director Ruben Martinez.

I'd like to know who built the fairly new firestation #5, why it leaks, and why can't those firefighters take better care of their firehouse. They don't have to do roof repairs, just inspect the Firehouse now and then along with their other chores. Then call whomever to repair any items needing repair, duh.

If your roof was leaking, would you call an experienced roofing contractor to fix it? Or a Fire Fighter???
They are 'Fire Fighters'... not roofers Duuuhhh!!!

At the beginning of the year, Chico Fire was awarded a $5.3 million federal grant. It has allowed them to put 14 new firefighters into the rotation.
All of them are embarking on a eight week training course to get ready to protect the city.

“It’s an exciting day for us,” Chief Lauderdale said.

Are there any former roofers, carpenters, plumbers, etc. among the new recruits that will be trained to protect the city ? Or were people hired that have no experience at anything ?
