Please leave a little for the ducks and geese so they will not have to fly back north sick and hungry, again.
Next year will you please hedge row a little of your subsidised land for the preservation of nature and wild life. Do you really have to farm right up to the edge of the road?
I have just placed a little doll in my pocket in order to say "we" do not want to pay you increased subsidies "eternally" for your big crops that you say are short do to cold water.
Question here; How much money do we taxpayers pay for the rice experimental station? How mush do we pay to have the County Ag adviser to promote rice growers as the Kings of Butte County?
I see wind has a mentionable place in this article, what I want to know is how much does the wind effect water temperature and will it be considered in the study for you to receive more subsidies?
I heard Japan does not want to buy rice from farms that are petroleum based do to its poor nutritional value and its pesticide residue and herbicide deformities, is there any truth to these rumors? Dose/has the rice industry hired lobiest to encourage Japan to buy Americas poor engineered quality rice?

Here's an idea smart guy..how about you grow your own food so you don't have to rely on any one else. And while you're at it, since you seem to think ALL public service is a waste of your tax dollars, never drive on any public roads, and never call 911. And please, for the love of Pete, proofread your posts once in awhile.

stephens1949, go crawl back under your rock. I'm a 3rd generation of northen CA rice growing family...WE ARE NOT RICH!! Unless you count the wealth of being able to work with the land, be your own boss (for the most part) & doing something productive---feeding people!

I just hope & pray my family can continue to grow rice just like my dad & grandpa did. GO, FARMERS!!!
How is it possible

Stephens 1949's posts just keep getting more and more bizarre. Who knew that could be possible?

I am glad you are speaking out, and hope you will be able to make a change for the better. I hope you go Organic, put in hedge rows, leave a good god given % of unharvested rice for the ducks and geese and set land aside for wild life habitat. If you have left unharvested rice in the Field you must have seen how fast it is consumed, an indication of what a big problem food for the birds has become. I hope you would not use it as a chumming tool!

Organic is a great choice for some, widely used would unfortunatly lead to even less for the open market/higher prices, someone somewhere would suffer.

Actually you are correct about the wildlife, Wall to wall has been hard on the pheasants, but better for the migratory bird. There is plenty of food for all.

I've set aside a small strip and let it revert to nature. For the first time in a decade a hen raised a brood this spring, and I have a rooster or two this fall.

Can't wait for the specks...

You are a true numbnut, you seriously do not know what you speak of, you were served on a similar topic quite recently yet still complain about things you know nothing about. I know that this will not get through your brick laden head but I will try again.

1. Rice harvesters are not 100% efficient, they do leave rice on the ground, why the heck do you think the migratory birds, ducks, geese, etc overwinter here and have been for decades. The rice farmers provide the habitat they like and they get to eat here.

2. There is no herbicide or chemical residue on conventional rice, if so the countries importing it would not accept it. California is THE most regulated state in the country when it comes to herbicides, fungicides, etc.

3. You could not afford to buy rice if it was Organic, the production just is not there. If this country were to grow all organic, we would be importing food nonstop at higher prices, poorer quality, and from countries that do not have to follow the strict safe good guidelines.

If I were to leave a unharvested 12 pack outside my door somebody would consume it. STF up unless you actually know something you speak of.
