The United States announced Tuesday it will provide $180 million in emergency food aid to South Sudan, warning of a "shocking" crisis in the worldís youngest nation following months of civil war.
Security Adviser Susan Rice warned that "the threat of famine is real," saying in a statement announcing the aid that "the scale of the suffering and humanitarian need there is shocking."

Thanks for the laugh poopgun. I don't know where you come up with your crap butt itís hilarious! Your imagination must come from that fantasy world you live in. We all know that I donít get welfare or any kind of government assistance butt even if I did, you donít make enough flipping burgers at the local fast food joint to pay any taxes.

What do I care about the price of groceries, there are a lot of people who are getting shafted by their employers and arenít paid enough to buy nutritious foods.

In other words, itís called compassion, something alien to you tea Ėbaggers.

Wiping tables at some fast food joint barely provides you with enough income to buy your own groceries.

Ensuring adequate food for families and individuals living in poverty is also a centerpiece of any nation's food policy efforts. In the United States, this aid primarily takes the form of monthly benefits that are calculated based on family income, adjusted for certain deductible living expenses and household size, and can only be used for the purchase of foods. For decades, the program known as ďfood stampsĒ was revamped and renamed Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in 2008 to acknowledge the change from paper food stamps to Electronic Benefit Transfer or EBT cards. SNAP is a mandatory spending program; the government must designate funds for the program sufficient to cover benefits for all who meet the eligibility requirements. The farm bill also authorizes funding for SNAP and other nutrition assistance programs, projected to cost $772 billion over the 10-year-period from 2013 to 2022.

The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is a related program that targets low-income seniors, generally defined as individuals who are at least 60 years old and who have household incomes of not more than 185 percent of the federal poverty level.Eligible recipients receive coupons in addition to their regular benefits which can be used to buy eligible foods from farmers, farmers' markets or roadside fruit and vegetable stands that have been approved by the state agency to accept coupons.
