I am not the one ascribing greed to every wealthy person. It is you Lefties that are always trying to play corporations as evil. Why do we never hear you guys talking about the greed in sports or the entertainment industry? Why don't you talk about the greed from the likes of Nancy Pelosi or any of the other millionaires in Congress?

The Waltons aren't greedy. They are good at business. Since when is being successful evil? Don’t you want the minimum wage earner to be successful? We taxpayers do not have to make up any difference. If someone doesn't earn enough to live on then they can find a new job, improve their marketable skills, work another job, work overtime(like my father and many others of his generation did when money was tight) or any combination of the above. What did people do before the massive welfare state started handing our cash and food stamps?

You must have a memory or comprehension problem. The blame for any recession can be blamed on governmental policies.

Regarding the politicians who take money from the fat cats for their campaigns--we have to blame both the GIVERS (Big Money) and the TAKERS (politicians). It takes two to tango. But it's perfectly legal.
Thanks to Citizens United and all of our other laws allowing this dangerous alliance, we have a country that's for the elite, and by the elite.
The politicians are solely to blame. No matter how hard any corporation or lobbyist tried to give their money to a politician if the politician refused the money the problem would not exist. But a crooked politician will always find a way to get some cash through political favors, favorable regulations, government subsidies for business.

The Waltons already proved they are good at business even while Sam Walton was still alive and they already amassed more wealth than they could spend in a dozen life times, isn't it time they start proving they are not greedy by paying their employees decent wages and benefits...?

During your fathers generation a single breadwinner's income was generally sufficient to feed a family, buy a house, a car and put a kid through college, marginal tax rates on the wealthy were set at over 90% and jobs were plentiful, today....

The so called "job creators" pay relatively low taxes, stash their money in offshore accounts and good paying jobs are nowhere to be found.

Were it not for "the massive welfare state and food stamps" the poor would be starving to death.

See? SOLUTION is right, you do despise the poor...

The government screws up nearly everything it touches. It is always just a matter of time before it all goes to hell. The USPS is a fine example of governments propensity to fail.
Wow, what a mess they have made of an idea that began very well....and the problem is?.........unchecked public employees spending other peoples money......no responsible oversight.....dropping the ball if you will.

No stupid! It is negotiated by us, through the union. Who in our last negotiations has been on the side of the employer, not the employees, in which we've lost pay and a holiday!
And jealous dickhead. I am currently weighing job offers that pay at least a $1000.00 a month more than I'm currently getting, that also includes all of the perks, and more... and no union too!

sure you can. How many "agents" does it take to hire an independent CPA firm to check out the books of large corporations?
and besides that, your man nobama has done NOTHING about anything in regard to large corporations .....because he doesn't care about them.....he just wants more tax money from them, and he wants to control them for his own purposes.....that is socialism 101.

You think that this is greedy, but the Waltons are not greedy. Whew.

Are corporations evil? Some are evil-- in that some corporations care nothing about their workers, nor about society as a whole, nor about their negative effects on the environment. They want more power, more political influence, more wealth-- no matter what destruction this causes to our society.
Sam Lowree wrote:

Actually republicon Darryl Issa, who came into congress declaring that his number one job was to do anything possible to destroy Obama, is the richest, at 250 million dollars. But, yes, I HAVE talked about the greed in congress, all the time.

Regarding highly paid sports or entertainment figures, we don’t have to go to movies, concerts, or sporting events. I don’t have to pay for their incomes if I don’t want to. But I DO have to pay for subsidies to the Waltons—whether I shop at Walmart or not-- because I pay taxes.

Being successful is not evil. Being good at business and making billions of dollars is not evil, by itself. It is evil to mistreat Americans with pay so low that we taxpayers have to subsidize the difference.

It is evil to outsource production jobs to China where the workers live in sweat shop conditions and get paid $5 a day-- just so the Waltons can ensure that they're making as much money as possible.

And it's evil that the Waltons spend millions-- money they COULD have used to pay their workers more-- to bribe government officials in Mexico to give them subsidies and special treatment.

OF COURSE taxpayers make up the difference.“What ends up happening is that because the government comes in and supplements egregiously low wages with benefits like food stamps, the companies don’t have to pay living wages. So in effect, your tax money is being used to support corporate margins.

Even better, many of these folks who get the food stamp benefits then turn around and spend them at the very companies which refuse to pay them decent wages. Who benefits? CEOs and shareholders. Who loses? Society.”

Corporate welfare costs us taxpayers much more than social welfare. But you despise the poor, so all you can focus on is social welfare. And for many people their wages are so small that working two jobs still won't be enough.
Sam Lowree wrote:

Such a ridiculous statement. The high-stakes gambling on Wall Street was allowed because congress eliminated Glass-Steagall and other regulatory guidelines. That fact, and Bush's toothless SEC allowed the meltdown to happen.

It was not government regulation that allowed Wall Street greed to cause this huge recession. It was the LACK of government oversight that allowed this to happen.

The thing is that it's perfectly legal for the corporations to give money, and it's perfectly legal for the politicians to accept it. The conservative supreme court said so.
