Hear it, see it every day! Funny (pathetic) how during the phony bush economic boom the same people bitching about government employees today were making bank and gorging themselves like grasshoppers and laughing at those stupid government workers who were working for the future like ants.

I know it’s another thread butt these morons want to take away benefits that others earned butt scream to high hell if someone says let’s balance the national budget by cutting S.S. and/or Medicare.

Although Chico's airport hasn't had any major crashes, there are smaller incidents like smoke in a plane's cabin, or landing gear not working properly.
Firefighter Jim Houtmanwas was on duty in 2009 when a light plane couldn't get its landing gear down and skidded sideways across the runway.
"We have more small incidents than you would imagine," he said.

Yes I'll try to keep that in mind as I reflect about the shitstorm our fine city is experiencing.
Lets see, liberal majority for 8+ years...city finances crumbling for 6+ years... Oh yes I see the correlation and I think the voters will see it on the next election day.
I'm speaking local politics only of course so no need to respond from your perch in Lincoln.
No response right is wrong ????

Oh yes I was waiting for this, the Chicken Little post. Pay your protectors anything they want or bad things will happen. Please what a joke, your line of reasoning is juvenile. We are not saying we want these services for free but at a reasonable, reduced cost.
You post generalizations without solutions, inflammatory rhetoric of a past era.
Please think hard and realize,
1. our city is broke
2. Driven onto the brink of bankruptcy by a liberal majority, your party.
3. Bring solutions to the table not rants
I know you can say it, it rhymes with faze waxes... come on I know you want to say it, its your solution to every financial crisis be it legitimate or as in this case caused by a disregard and ignorance of simple finance.
I could have handled this better with my econ 101 textbook than the three stooges did.
however I do see a light and it came in the way of the Grand jury report and a city manager and finance director who speak the truth.
And Lincoln, please don't post about topics of which you are poorly informed.
Still waiting, address chico situation specifically, surely you have some great ideas they worked so great in chapman town

Another generalization post, spout your divisive rants. No solutions or addressing chico issues. Maybe you two should stick to national or state level political issues. You certainly have nothing to add to local situation. I and others are getting tired of your old rants.

People are losing their jobs in Chico because of the mismanagement of the city by the Chico City Council. Many of these people voted for the City Council, the same liberal members over and over and over. These are people who think the words Republican or conservative are the worst curse words they know. Yet now that it’s been shown without any possible doubt that the Chico City Council and their stupid liberal spending has almost bankrupted the city, what do these same people who are now losing their jobs say? Do they blame the City Council? Of course not. They blame the Republicans and Bush. They blame the conservatives. It’s the City Council, people. You people are blind. You vote for them over and over when they do exactly what we’ve been telling you is gonna happen. You still don’t look at them. You still look at everyone else except the idiots you keep electing. Wake up people. Stop electing them. You’ve now lost your jobs.
How true Tellit, gandolf, grunter, and swabbie were at the helm while this whole mess was created. All they had to do was question the man or lady and get the truth. Instead they pretended everything was ok and those Bay Area equity refugees will come back and save us.

Guess that didn't happen.

It's ok though you won't have to worry about being bombed in chico, it's a nuclear free zone.

Those damn republicans!!!!

Just trying to draw some real dialogue on Chico topics.

I know you and Lincolnite have no solutions/ideas regarding our current fiscal mess. You have no idea how we got into it or how to get out of it.

1. Our current fiscal mess was in large part due to
a. economic downturn
b. failure of a liberal city council to enact measures to stop the bleeding, failure to recognize the problem
c. failure of a liberal city council to react at all except with feigned ignorance, a typical liberal response stick your head in the sand and choose not to take the hard road of fiscal responsibility
d. almost a criminal negligence upon the council, only one seeing the problem for what it was and being justified/vindicated by the grand jury
e. unrestrained greed by the public employee unions, resulting in 39 of their fellow employees losing their jobs
guess its not a brotherhood at city hall everyone for themselves

Your non response to actual situations and current conditions is a telling answer. The silence is deafening, your rants about ideology do not belong here in a forum discussing local issues. Again the deafening sound of crickets from the local liberal left and the public employees is a stinging indictment of them.

I can only hope that enough citizens are aware of our situation and carry those sentiments to the polls. I for one will be working very hard to garner support for candidates.

This era of chico being on the edge of bankruptcy/insolvency will forever be a black eye associated with the liberal majority and should serve as a rallying cry for years to come.

The answer to dealing with jobs cuts is simple.
Either taxes are raised significantly, or some of these government workers must lose their jobs. There is only so much money to go around.
The unions have chosen to have some of their bretheren
receive lay offs.
For example:
$1 million dollars will fund 5 fireman at $200,000 (total cost, including salary/benefits/payroll costs per each fireman).
if the total cost per each fireman is lowered to $100,000, you can pay for 10 fireman with the same $1 million.

It is wonderful that some fireman receive $200,000 or more from the city coffers, but there is a cost for this generosity. Someone else loses their job, or taxes go up significantly.

cal-fire(CDF) has already raised/instituted new fire fees/taxes statewide without lawful approval....they just send out bills.
If you build a new building, you will also pay a fire mitigation tax, and possibly a new local fire parcel tax.........but they still need more money......

You have got only one thing right and the rest of your l polemic is full of ideological bitching and finger pointing and you offer no viable solutions....

The one and only thing you got right and glossed over is :

"Our current fiscal mess was in large part due to economic downturn" for which every Chicoan/American ought to send a thank you card to Bush.W

When the economy was firing on all four cylinders, other then the usual partisan rants, I do not recollect conservatives raising much fuzz about wages nor "fiscal responsibility"

We are currently in the midst of an economic recovery, and fear not, once the recession is a distant memory it will be business as usual no matter who is sitting in city hall...

What the hell would you know about an economy? You have been sucking money out of it all your life. You are totally ignorant of what an economy is. You think it is the Government stealing money from people and giving it to you. You are Anti-Economy virus. You wouldn't know an economy if it kicked you in that big fat ass of yours.

As usual you ignore the issue and go to your mainstay blaming republicans.

I offered solutions in my many posts, cut spending specifically wages and benefits.

You're the one who can't seem to find a way out. As much as you want to you can't seem to say raise taxes.

You also like to ignore whatever doesn't serve your purpose such as the stinging criticism of the current council by the grand jury.

The three stooges have accomplished one thing, they created a whole new group of people who will question and hold city council accountable. To think we were probably one liberal city council member away from forever being linked to Vallejo and Stockton. Quite sickening.

I think the campaign slogan should be

Good Job gandolf, grunter and swabbie

That should take care of things

Since you are not willing to apportion blame where it belongs and constantly bash the liberals, then someone has to blame republicans...

Your solutions are influenced by envy and come straight out of the T publican playbook, mainly:

"cut out someone else's wages and benefits, preferably your neighbors' who are doing better than you are but leave the real rich guys alone so they can get even richer..."

So let's go ahead with the cuts and then we will see how long it will be before your "whole new group of people" starts whining about sub standard services and re-discovers there is no such thing as a free lunch...

I think you better stick to dreaming up new campaign slogans for the T publican party....

There are other options.

Calif. city considers contracting fire service
http://www.firerescue1.com/fire-jobs-search/a...

The fact is that Ca. public employee unions have bought enough politicians to price themselves out of a job.

There already are private ambulance services available. The time has come to open up fire services to the lowest bidder. I am sure that a well run private fire dept. will be able to provide good services, and still make a healthy profit. There are many, many good folks who would gladly sign up to be a fireman without charging the taxpayer $200,000 plus per year.

The median income in Chico is under $40k for christ sakes. I am sure that thousands would apply for a job making $200k per year.....but it is my guess that only special (nepotism) folks are awarded a jackpot like that.
