Wonderful article in today’s BEE highlighting and providing supportive documentation that the economy in Caulifornia is on the mend. Repubicans both in Washington and here in CA have done everything they could to de -rail this recovery.

Now that's funny! Here's a little more data to help prove repubicans would destroy America just to get at Obama.

Inflation data points to firming economy

Anyway, when's the next "smoking gun" scandle that the righties can't back up?

Why don't you link to city hall yesterday?

There is plenty of data there, 53 lost jobs to start.

Don't really care what's going on in Chula Vista

I live work in chico

So you keep reading your msn reports and maybe it will recover enough so that you won't be affected by pension rollbacks

Who lost 53 jobs? The city, county governments cut 53 positions? Were they actual jobs or just vacant positions.

Statewide employment is on the rise. As a point, the city of Lincoln has filled several positions with the police, utilities and fire departments. And there are literally thousands of new construction industry jobs in central Caulifornia. It’s to the point where the people who should be generating taxes are back hiring illegals

So want a more honest, robust tax base, start arresting the scum who hire those illegals.

MSN reports, gawd you're an idiot! I read IBD every day, hard right paper. I reed the Sacramento Bee daily, a middle of the road paper. I watch MSNBC, FOX, CNN, Discovery and History channels daily.

One last thing, YOU and your fellow scumbag voters in Chico/Butte County are the ones who elected the bastards who negotiated those employee contracts and who elected the bastards who gamed PERS to be allowed to defer payments into PERS.

I hate to be the one to inform you, however.......you need not look any further than your union bretheren to find out why folks are losing their public employee jobs. There is only so much money available for public employee pensions/salaries. A few of your folks already took a huge chunk of the money. For those who are left working for the City?????
You get what is left over.
The public is tapped out of money, the state and the feds have made matters worse, so we have what we have. Bad economy and no money.

This thread is a joke........most folks in norcal continue to struggle to pay their bills.

Yes I agree with you. It was just so easy, they tied our wages to revenue increases but not decreases. So when the real estate bubble was growing bigger so were our wages.

The council just rubber stamped without doing their job. We screwed the taxpayer in chico and for that I'm sorry. I'm not giving up my 100,000 plus yearly pension though.

Gotta go I'm flying to Hawaii to spend a month at my condo.

Common knowledge in chico(this is a Chico Forum) is that a 15hr budget session was held yesterday. 53 positions were eliminated, budget cuts across the board. No economic recovery going on here.

People are concerned with local issues, not arguing ideology. Yours is the politics of yesteryear. Divisive and non-productive. We are trying to solve local problems not endless arguing with skewed links.

I suggest you get involved with local politics in the land of the fighting zebras. Leave chico politics to chico people. I don't care what you do in Lincoln, it doesn't affect me. thanks for building the bypass though I spent a lot of time looking at Gladding Mcbean while at a dead stop.

Well, I can see I'm having a dialog with someone who doesn’t know what he's talking about. First off, I'll ask the question again: were 53 people fired or were 53 positions eliminated.
Next, Chico State employees more people than ALL government and private entities combined in Lincoln. Sierra Pacific is our only large employer followed up by a Safeway, a Raleys and Gladding, McBean
who only employees about 30 people. No car dealers or farm machinery sales.
We don’t have a malls like you do! No major food and/or beverage joints like you have.
We have a Lowes and a Home Depot that are going broke because the blue -hairs who make up 50% of the population here are too old to mow their own lawn so they hire illegals to do it, let alone change a light bulb.
I’m through Chico all the time and it’s a “destination” city. Local people and people from the surrounding area go there to shop and dine! No one comes to Lincoln for that and in fact, those of us who are young enough to get out, we go to Roseville, Rocklin or Citrus Heights etc.
How many hotels do you have? We’ve got one!
Your town is screwed up because you screwed it up. This town is screwed up because the “good old boy club” who used to run it sold out to developers who set up a community that caters to blue -hairs who are now the majority and don’t want a tax base other than an expansion as a retirement community.
We don’t have any real tax base except property taxes!

California’s workforce takes a dive–REAL CA Unemployment Over 13%

he bottom line is that California has a real unemployment rate of a minimum of 13%–not under 10%. Brown refuses to admit 900,000 unemployed Californians exist. National the number of over 11%, not 7.5%–but then no one believes Obama is capable of telling the truth.

California is in a Depression and our Governor and Democrat supermajority legislature want to make it worse.

“One impact of the declining participation rate is to make California’s unemployment rate, although still one of the nation’s highest, look rosier than it otherwise would be.
The difference between a 66 percent rate and a 63 percent rate – three percentage points – translates into 900,000 potential workers, and were they still part of the labor force, it would mean California’s unemployment rate would be more than 13 percent, instead of the current official rate of 9.4 percent.”
http://capoliticalnews.com/2013/05/05/dan-wal...
==========
The six state measures are based on the same definitions as those published for the U.S.:
U-3, total unemployed, as a percent of the civilian labor force (this is the definition used for the official unemployment rate);
U-4, total unemployed plus discouraged workers, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus discouraged workers;
U-5, total unemployed, plus discouraged workers, plus all other marginally attached workers, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus all marginally attached workers; and
U-6, total unemployed, plus all marginally attached workers, plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus all marginally attached workers.
California:
U-3 9.9% Unemployment
U-4 10.5%
U-5 11.6%
U-6 18.8% UNEMPLOYMENT!!!

Hey fornication face, even your data shows the unemployment rate is dropping here in Caulifornia!

Look at the fricking Heading for this thread."Economy gaining strength".

And another thing, if the data released is actually only .66 of the real unemployment numbers, that means the unemployment rate under bush was actually higher than what was reported, right?
