The government is smashing things right and left and judging from all your asinine government bashing posts on TOPIX it does not appear the government took any of your freedoms away....
But the government is recording everything that we say and do. And with the number of laws and regulations on the books we are all criminals in some way.

Solar collectors at their extreme best are only 15% efficient!
And that is only on sunny clear cool days, with the lenses as clean as they possibly can be!
So they are inefficient at their best!

And then there is wind power! LOL
In the United States amounted to 149.766 terawatt-hours, or 3.67% of all generated electrical energy.

Wind energy has become the Asian nation’s third-biggest energy resource, following coal and hydropower, and accounts for about 2 percent of total electricity, according to data from China’s State Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Such a good point, GRANDPA. Sam should have seen your response coming-- but he's so anti-government, anti-regulation, that he actually thought he was making a point beyond rebuttal. Hilarious.
I did know what his response would be. Why do you think I said it? It wasn't sarcasm. I know that you and especially comrade don't think that you could live if it were not for the government. Of course I don't know what you do when the GOP runs the government, you must be in turmoil the entire time.

They are. Warren Buffett and all the other investors in "green energy" as well. Ole Comrade thinks that because guys like Buffett invest in "green energy" that it must be a viable energy solution when in fact Buffett is merely taking advantage of the government forcing consumers to buy "green energy". Buffett knows that the market is being manipulated by the politicians and will take advantage of the skewed market.

15% efficient....?

That's not bad...

Your average gas guzzler is about 14% efficient with the more efficient vehicles barely approaching 24%....

BTW got the PG& statement the other day... solar is keeping us pretty cool during these 100+F days and we are paying zilch.....

Thanks for subsidizing, fool!

You are obviously no Warren Buffet SAM, and you are welcome to pay trough the nose for all the energy you consume.

The government is not "forcing" you, me, nor anyone else to buy green energy, it's just that some of us are smarter then others and take advantage of all the energy out there that's free for the taking...

So now we are morons because we pay out taxes?

Such a great alternate energy system, you wouldn't buy it unless it was subsidized. We all see your commitment to saving the planet now. As long as it doesn't cost YOU anything you are all for saving the world. Typical Leftist environazi.

You are not morons because you all pay taxes, but you are big morons because you have been brainwashed by your masters into believing green energy is not efficient.

My PV system cost me plenty of cash up front, and with a zero utility bill it will pay for itself in no time, the subsidy was just icing on the cake, thank you SAM and thank you INFANTILE, you are not such bad guys after all, and....

Your bias towards all those who are out to rape the planet is so well know that it gives you zero room to refer to anyone as an "environazi"

Now a PV system that cost $30,000 to install, that saves $100 a month takes 25 years to pay off!!! Great savings! LMAO

And then there are idiots like you who was really proud to tell us all that you over sized your PV system, so in essence, you basically ripped your own self off, believing that you are doing good!
And that PV sales rep. was the one laughing 'at you' nicoliar, ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK!!!

Wrong again you ignorant MORON!

The PV system saves us between $500 to $1000 per month...

We oversized the system against our electricians/sales rep advice (not everybody is as crooked as you are) and it is a good thing we did so because when it hits 108F outside we can keep our house, shop and gym at a comfortable 70 or lower while you IDIOT swelter in the heat just to save a couple of bucks....

What? The AGW alarmist scientists are wrong at predicting the future again. Say it ain't so.

"Still, over the past year, several other papers have suggested that views on climate sensitivity are changing. Both the 2007 IPCC report and a previous draft of the new assessment reflected earlier views on the matter by saying that the standard measure of climate sensitivity (the likely rise in equilibrium temperature in response to a doubling of CO2 concentration) was between 2°C and 4.5°C, with 3°C the most probable figure. In the new draft, the lower end of the range has been reduced to 1.5°C and the “most likely” figure has been scrapped. That seems to reflect a growing sense that climate sensitivity may have been overestimated in the past and that the science is too uncertain to justify a single estimate of future rises."

http://www.economist.com/news/science-and-tec...

"Rapid melting of polar ice sheets may be due to short-lived natural events rather than climate change, scientists said.

New research suggests more time is needed to predict the likely impact of global warming and ice loss on sea levels.

Earth scientist Professor Andrew Shepherd, of the University of Leeds, said:“It seems that studies based on less than a decade of satellite measurements are too short to establish, with confidence, whether the ice sheet losses are accelerating over time, and so we should be cautious about extrapolating short-term trends into the future."
http://www.scotsman.com/news/environment/pola...

"In view of the large significance observed we suggest that the correlation of 0.67, between
multi-decadal modes in the Koch ice index and the solar cycle length, is indicative of a relationship
not due to chance.
The multi-decadal modes still represent only a small fraction of the total variance in the ice series,
which illustrates that while the kind of solar activity characterised by the variable length of the solar
cycle may cause some of the variability seen in the ice series, the majority is caused by other factors.
Whereas the multi-decal mode may be a result of varying solar activity, the cause of the slowly
varying mode is not directly seen from the data presented here. Obviously, it must be due to a natural
variation of the climate. A variation of similar shape may be recognised in the solar cycle length
(Figure 5), but it has not been possible from the present data to deduce a correlation that is
significant. Nevertheless, the similarity of the variation of the ice export through the Fram Strait and
the smoothed variation of the solar cycle length shown in Figure 1.7 speaks in favour of the
assumption that the solar cycle variation may include both natural modes. This conclusion is in
accordance with the finding by Bond et al., 2001 (their Figure 2) that a persistent series of solar
influenced millennial-scale variations, which include the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice
Age, reflect a baseline of the centennial-scale cycles.
The ’low frequency oscillation’ that dominated the ice export through the Fram Strait as well as the
extension of the sea-ice in the Greenland Sea and Davis Strait in the twentieth century may therefore
be regarded as part of a pattern that has existed through at least four centuries. The pattern is a
natural feature, related to varying solar activity. The considerations of the impact of natural sources
of variability on arctic ice extent are of relevance for concerns that the current withdrawal of ice may
entirely be due to human activity. Apparently, a considerable fraction of the current withdrawal
could be a natural occurrence.

In other words the Arctic ice melt is due to natural forces.
