Anyone know the name of the person that was killed? She is my age and I was wondering if I knew her from high school or something. I live out of state now, but read up on local news often.

Let me guess.... texting? cell phones should be banned from any vehicle! People are dieing because they can't get their face away from a cell phone!

The speed limit says 60 MPH
but lots of drivers are going
faster than 60 MPH just remember
that when you make lane changes
or do anything on the HWY. What
we are seeing in alot of these
crashes involves SPEED limit and
other factors. I wish it would
change back to 55 MPH.

That is a stupid idea. R.I.P. to the young woman and my condolences to her family.

This crash is a tragedy, but saying that a 5 mph speed limit difference would have somehow prevented the crash is just nuts. That road can be safely driven at 70 mph, but when conditions are bad people need to adjust their driving to the conditions.

"runninbare" sounds a lot like "toomuch" from the 9am update story yesterday. Your such a DP. Humans dont have all the power that you assume for this tradegy. Accidents do happen without human interferance, like Uhh, lets say mother nature, circumstance and as I believe) divine intervention.

If anything that has to do with mother nature causes you to crash, you are driving too fast for conditions. On the other hand, if God decides to grab a hold of your steering wheel and kill you...well, that's a whole different story!

Excuse me folks, I have to go pray before I head out to the bars.

Don't be blaming my mother for this accident. We're innocent!

How do you know it was a cell phone? Maybe she fell asleep or had a sneezing fit. Maybe her leg cramped. Maybe a tire blew out.

It looks like you already busted out your jump to conclusions mat.

Maybe we should try to catch up to Juanita at the bar. Mother would be so proud.

If she dropped a tire over the line, there is a good chance that the road surface might have had something to do with her erratic steering. Since the last road surface has been layed into place, there is a 2 inch drop from final grade and the underlying surface.

If you're not paying attention, its easy to get "sucked" over on the shoulder. So maybe before we ban cell phones and drive 15 mph, perhaps a little investigation into the road surface might be in order. The shoulder transition is a little tricky in good weather. Wouldn't be much of a jump to think that might be one part of the chain of events that caused this lady to lose her life.

The ignorance (and lack of english skills/grammar/education) on these comment pages is awful. You'd like to think we as a society have evolved into a somewhat tolerant and respectful culture, but look at the comment pages of the ER and you will usually find otherwise; particularly when the story involves race or anyone who isn't white (see A.S. president attack). People who hide behind screen names to disseminate hate and ignorance disgust me.

OMG, I said "let me guess." I read awhile back that cell phones were the #2 cause of vehicle accidents, DUI was #1. I think divine intervention came in at 12th! LOL Do you not see people driving and texting or talking ALL THE TIME! I don't know what a DP is... but you're a bigger one!
