Doug should abolish rice subsidys and let the capitalist system run free.

I sent Mr. LaMalfa a comment that perhaps he should work towards going back to a part-time legislature with a commensurate reduction the amount of bill that can be introduced and a reduction or elimination in legislator’s compensation and certain benefits.

It seems if there’s time to consider what laws ought to be taken off of the books, there should also be lesser chance for legislative mischievous to begin with.

Re: Firefighter Plottel.
Your 'miss' comment on Plottel is bordering on the absurd.
The man acted in a reasonable manner, given the circumstances stated in your paper. He had a reasonable fear for not only himself but the surrounding kids. Given the chancs of these dirt bags waving a gun around, real or otherwise, in this area prompted a good response from an armed citizen. They are lucky to be alive.
I am glad he was there and acted as he did. Someone has to take on these jerks. The police don't have the time (they say) and are too tied up in department regulations to act on our behalf.
The only thing that Plottel did that was wrong was in his timing: It was election time and the DA had to look tough. The elections over now so kick it out and get back to bussiness.
By the way, give him back his CCW permit.

I totally agree. whoever wrote this is being ridiculous. The people who should take the blame are the idiots waving an airsoft around. Those things are made to look realistic, and if you are stupid enough to wave a replica of a gun around you get what you deserve. As far as that is concerned Potel did everything right, and I would hope he would act in the same manor in a similar situation. In my mind he is a heroic guy. And oh by the way, I have 2 kids at Hooker Oak (which was locked down because of this incident). The DA should be ashamed of himself for attempting to prosecute this clear case of self defense.

Article about Police Officer shooting a 13 yr old boy with an airsoft gun, "toy" acording to the ER editorial staff.

This was surprisingly printed in the ER today, but not available on their website. Couldn't be more relevant to the dangers that exist with these types of replica firearms when pointed at people.

Please take a look and pass it along.
