Not sure this makes sense when stats tell us that this behavior causes a high percentage of wrecks.

The thought crossed my mind but I didn't want to appear too conspiratorial, but politicians don't do anything for the public good so yea, its possible.

Who is going to give the police a ticket for texting and driving. They do it just like members of the public.

about time! I have almost been hit twice in the past week by texters. i might add one younger one and one with grey hair.

Given the fact that they need either your permission or a signed warrant from a judge to see your phone in the first place,how are they planning to enforce this?How many people are going to get pulled over for using their navigation on their phone,so the officer can read through your texts?

Texting like dui's need tough penalties both are dangerous activities. Too bad they didn't keep the higher fines.

Penalties should be in line with DUI, as texting has been shown to be more dangerous than DUI.

So typical of our lawmakers; create a much needed law with enough wallet smack to make it a remembered lesson and then immediately extract all it's teeth. Typical pee and paddle in it behavior.
