That's your good ole' boy Ray County system. I'm telling you, you could kill, rape or even molest somebody in Ray County and all you would get is probation and maybe a slap on the wrist. The prosecutor is to damn lazy. Thompson wants to plea everthing out so he doesn't have to go to trial. Prime example, look at the man from Orrick that was in a wheel chair, that later died from his injuries, that got hit by the intoxicated 17 year old male. The prosecutor wants to give the him probation because he's only 17 years old. I'm sorry but if your intoxicated and hit and kill somebody then you need you need to be held accountable. And, I don't mean probation.

Looks like he has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and a DWI. Just because someone is not charged immediately or pleas it out doesn't mean that Thompson is lazy, you have to get the facts and evidence together before you can do what needs to be done.

That's a long way from a conviction, and even farther from a good sentence.

Don't you think probation is a light sentence for these people who are hurting our children and killing others? This man should have received much more than 5 years probation. And this young man will probably get probation as well....Will be interesting to see.

Do you all have the slightest idea how the legal system works? And I mean REALLY works. If not, why don't you find out before you keep griping about things you may not know about. Our laws are governed my legislation not by our local prosecutor or judge. Before anyone gets a burr in their butt, I am not saying they are fair or right, but instead of complaining about stuff you don't know about, try finding out. When I had to do interviews for my college classes, I found out a lot that I didn't know and was just like you all. But there are Missouri Statutes that have to be followed and specific elements to have in order to charge someone with a specific crime. And unless you are this one guy's attorney, how would you know whether or not the prosecutor offered probation? He was just charged not long ago, it isn't even to that stage of the game yet! Look up how court systems work. It doesn't happen in one court appearance! If you don't like the way charges are filed or the outcome, contact your senator or governor and let your voice be heard! And please show me one case where someone was convicted of murder and got probation!

I understand there are statutes but take a look at the cases that have been tried in Ray County. It's a sad day when a child molester gets a 90 day sentence and it happens ALL THE TIME in Ray County. Why? Because the cases are plea bargained out. Why? Because the prosecutor doesn't have the nerve to stand up and really try one of these cases and put these sickos behind bars for a long time. No instead they go to the 90 day program and come out to be free to molest again. Is that justice? And the case with the young man in Orrick doesn't have him facing murder charges, it's involuntary manslaughter. It will be interesting to see what he gets. The people in Ray County always seem to get the lightest sentence possible. Can you tell me why? I'm sure you will have an answer......

if your talking about the 22 year old that was recently charged with the little girl he molested at his house i believe he has multiple charges and this was the first, which he pled to and now will be in jail and off the street, while the prosecutor gets additional evidence for the other charges, which hopefully will keep this clown off the streets for years, if that's what has happened it looks like the prosecutor did a good job, but i don't have all the facts and neither do you.

Quit responding to Table. Table is an idiot and wouldn't know a fact if it hit them in the face. We're talking about a person here that is critical of the newspaper for being negative and then wall papers this website with negative posts. Some of the comments Table makes are given little if any thought before they're posted and do not warrant an intelligent response. Time and time again this person has posted things on this website and others that do not have an ounce of truth to them or is hearsay. You can sit here all day and explain the judicial system, our legislature or how to bake the perfect cake to this person and all they're going to do is argue with you. When has anyone seen Table post an idea, let along a good idea? You're wasting your time on a loser!

I don't think Table is an idiot. Table sounds to me like someone who is very passionate about defending city workers, and that is OK.

table comes across as an idiot, just from his posts. in real life he's probably a rational commonsense type of person, that is reasonable, and talks in a respectful manner. than he gets on topix and loses his mind.

well actually I do have an answer of sorts. It isn't just Ray County, look at other county records and see for yourself. Jails and prisons are overcrowded for one. Probation is not always a walk in the park if you ask someone who is on it but of course sometimes I think it depends on the probation officer. Do I like the fact that a child molestor can get 120 days (it's not 90)? Hell no. But that is the system, it isn't our prosecutor or judge. And these pedophile piece of craps do not ALWAYS get out that early, that is up to the Judge. Do some checking and see for yourself.

This man was acquitted when his wife pled guilty of child endangerment in connection with his crime, and received probation.

After a two-day trial and a little more than two hours of deliberation, a Ray County jury acquitted Christopher R. Hermann, 34, of Richmond, on a Class ĎBí felony charge of child molestation in the first degree, according to Ray County Prosecutor Jim Thompson.

Hermannís jury trial began last Thursday, May 22 in the Ray County Circuit Court. The charge stemmed from accusations that on more than one occasion, a 9-year-old female child in the care of Hermannís spouse accused him of making inappropriate sexual advances.
After reading jury instructions a second time and deliberating over the evidence, the 12-person jury came back with a verdict of not guilty.
Hermannís spouse, Ginger, was charged with child endangerment in connection with this same incident. That charge is a Class ĎCí felony, to which she entered a plea of guilty, receiving a sentence of four years probation in May 2007.

Looking for more...And it has been 90 days in some cases...I have done my homework... They have a so-called sexual offenders unit they are kept in and supposedly rehabilitated in.

I know this was a jury trial but this is a small indication of the types of punishment given in Ray County. I know there are others. I will post more as I find them.

So i guess this disproves the theory that the prosecutor is too lazy to try cases, huh?
